N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Like diannep said, moving ships while in BC happens quite a bit. There can be so many reasons, maintenance, staffing, etc.

Just a few months ago there were several divisions in multiples ships, and in different TGs that were getting shifted around at the same time. It was like hide and seek trying to keep up with all the moves...where did they go? :)

Ship movement is common, and moving ships shouldn't have any impact on PIR.

I have been getting mail from my SR on Thursdays so when I didn't get a letter yesterday I was just hoping that maybe today. No letter today either has any one heard how 03/415 is doing as a group?

YES< do bring phones.  They will be able to take them to A school!  Whatever they can fit in their sea bags and backpacks - they can take to A school from the airport. If you want them to call you while in A school, they will need their cell phones.  Dmaseship - I honestly do not believe the ship issue is going to affect our PIR in the least.  Don't even worry about it - or, at least, try not to!

I HOPE like heck we find out what's going on with them being moved. I hope it won't affect their PIR cause my family has already taken vacation days for then and booked hotel already. It don't take much to get me flipping out about things and this is a BIG one.

Emilyship9, I asked her to send me a list but she hasn't. But when we talked on the phone last week, she said some bras, jeans and her phone but not her laptop. She will be staying at GL for A school so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

Machelship12, what are you bringing her? I had asked my son what he needs, and 2 letters ago he was under the assumption that he may not even be able to bring his phone at first. He's heading to San Antonio.

My son is on ship 12 div 410 he didn't say anything about moving but he probably forgot or don't know anything. He's so quiet like me and don't like to talk or ask questions in front of a bunch of people.

JENJEN:  It could be possible that they shut the ship down for maintenance, which they do periodically.  Moving divisions to another ship is more common than you think.  Another possibility is that they were consolidating more divisions in one ship rather than maybe having ships partially full...to save on expenses connected to that barracks.  Just a guess....
