Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

amyschu, do you know where your SR is going to A School?

spontine is correct that if your SR is staynig in GL for A School he will most likely have liberty during the day on Sat and Sun too. Friday will be cut in half for you though as he/she will have to move over to the other side for school after PIR before he can leave on liberty.

We are hearing that some of those who are flying out to school have had part of Saturday too.

If you are making flight arrangements check on flights that allow you to change days or times without an extra fee, Southwest does not charge a fee you only pay the difference, if any, in the tickets price. Also check with other airlines and ask about a fee to change flights if needed. Tell them why you may need to change your flight, they may work it all out for you.

amyschu, if your child is staying in GL for A school, you will have the whole weekend with them, they just have to return to base at 9:30 or 10 pm...but if your child is going elsewhere to A school, they will fly out some time on Saturday, only your recruit will know the details of when their flight will be when the time gets closer...they will let you know. Some families go the airport and spend time with them there while they are waiting for their flight on Saturday.
