This is from the Notes section on RTC FB in response to the Note on the mistake for the Form Letters for this PIR. It is about Liberty and Departure from RTC by the Sailors. (BOLD and ITALICS mine):

At this time the liberty period for those graduating on Nov. 21 is as follows:

Recruits attending "A" school in Great Lakes will depart on 21 Nov and report to their new command. Following normal check-in procedures, they will be authorized liberty Wednesday, 21 Nov and Thursday, 22 Nov.

Recruits attending "A" school outside of Great Lakes will depart RTC 23 Nov. They will be authorized liberty Wednesday, 21 Nov and Thursday, 22 Nov.

hold on, for those staying in gl. just wed and thur? what about the weekend?

The Friday after Thanksgiving has not yet been declared a day off but it typically is. Your sailor should be off Thursday through Sunday for the weekend.

How soon do they know if they have liberty through the week-end?

The GL A schoolers should have weekend Liberty and the W and Th. So definitely W TH SA Su. It is just Friday that is really in question. It really is usually a Liberty day. BUT, Even then they could have watch or it could be changed. You may not know until they check in with TSC on PIR day.

Those flying out will only have W, TH and will fly out Friday. The Friday fly out could change as well..just depends on flight availibility and other factors. Most likely Friday though.

How do we know as family, what we can do after PIR is over.  Are we able to meet with our son/daughter after it's over, or do we have to wait until they sign in to A school if they are staying at Great Lakes? Is it a wait and see from our son and or daughter?

GL A Schoolers will leave directly after PIR to gather their things and transfer over to TSC GL.This takes 3-5 hours. After INDOC you may pick them up at TSC GL, which is up the street from RTC, and then have Liberty with them as outlined above.

Make sure they have a working calling card as they will not be able to take their cells with them until AFTER they INDOC (Indoctrinate). That way they can call you and tell you they are ready.

There is a Vistors Center on TSC and a Museum. I am hoping they will be open normal hours on PIR day.

Visitor Center's hours of operation:

Monday-Friday 0600-1600 (10 hours per day), Sat/Sun 0800-1100 (3 hours per day)

MUSEUM NOTICES

Recruits going to A School outside of GL and leaving on Friday 11/23. When will they know what time of day their flight leaves?
