It's so fun to get back here and catch up. Thank you to those few who keep the rest of us posted. Wow! Remember how hard it was when they were in bootcamp and we were starving for any kind of news. They've come so far! My daughter graduated from A School in August and is now an ET. She's still in GL waiting for orders and hoping to not have to spend another winter there. LOL!!

Labmom - Congratulations! What a wonderful family vacation you have planned.  StarChild and Lindalav - I will keep your sailors in my prayers and hope that their deployment is short and sweet! Take care, Ladies, and stay in touch!!

Are you signed up for Google Alerts for the your Sailor's ship?  I just found out about this. There have been some interesting stories in the past week.  (If you don't know about that, go to http://www.google.com/alerts, enter "USS ???" - be sure to use the quotation marks).

Hello all, I have not been on lately but do you realize it is almost a year since our Sailor graduated from GL!! My sailor is underway now but I don't know much about the ship he is on. If any one can tell me about the USS Wasp please post it.

Hello all- been a while since i have been on - just reading all the updates.  My daughter is on deployment and will be home soon thank God-  she has been very good about trying to e mail me every day- even if just one line.  I cant wait to turn her phone on and get a real call!   I have been busy doing a scrap book for her and getting the house in order.  She is coming home for 10 days!

Has it been a year already!! WOW! Sometimes I would rather him be in boot camp than on the ship out in the ocean or in another country. At least he was safe and out of arms way. I heard from Louis and he sounds great. He is underway somewhere. He will try to come home sometime in Aug. He told me that he is playing football for the ship and the first game is in Aug. He wants me to come to Norfolk when they play the championship game. He is very confident that they will make it that far. He played football in high school and college and I am happy he is doing something he loves to do.

Hello ladies - I haven't been on N4Ms for quite a while. It's so fun to see that a few of us still catch up here.  StarChild - great picture of your son. Labmom - I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't seen my kid in forever! I hope you got to see your daughter over the 4th. We made a wirlwind trip to see my daughter last month. Better than nothing, right? I didn't appreciate those hugs when I got them every day. Now they're like gold!! Bubbymom - I laughed about your son unfriending you.  I'm friends with both my girls on Facebook. I try not to comment too often because I think they forget that I have access to their lives, especially the younger one. That's how I find out what's going on! These teenagers can't wait to post EVERYTHING so the world can see it. I'm glad to see that all of your kids are doing well and moving ahead with their careers. Hard to believe it's almost been a year since our kids left for bootcamp. Anyway, take care all, and thanks for keeping in touch! Prayers to all of you and your families.

Hello Sisters- I have not been by for a visit in awhile and I need to catch up with everything. I do want to let you know how hectic my life is now. Louis is underway but he text or texted me yesterday to let me know he is ok. My brother had an accident and punctured his lung, my former sister-in-law had a blood clot in her lung and my husband had a 6 hr back surgery!! All of this was last week. Now I am waiting on him hand and foot. Meds on three different schedule and I am not sleeping at all. I am in the room with him and he keeps the light on all night so he can read. He keeps the television on all night just in case he doesn't feel like reading and he calls me ALL THE TIME. WHAT THE CORNBREAD HECK ( and that is putting it mildly). Whoever made up the marriage vows need to come and give me a break and rewrite the vows: for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, WHETHER RESTED OR SLEEP DEPRIVED, till death do you part. I have so many bags under my eyes I feel like I have packed for a trip around the world! I am going to pack a bag (with some of his HAPPY PILLS), go to a hotel (with the HAPPY PILLS), turn off my phone, put the DO NOT DISTURB-EVER sign on the door and get some sleep.

You moms are something else-UNFRIENDING AND FRIENDING. I try not to comment but I sure send a message or text them if I don't agree with something. Labmom, I am glad we are keeping in touch.

Sisters, this is a request from a Gold Star Mom. I wanted to let this group know her situation.

I am Navy Gold Star Mom of EOD1 Joseph Adam McSween , KIA April 6, 2007 in Hawijah, Kirkuk, Iraq.
On June 15, 2011 I was on my way to Morris, Illinois for the Illinois Freedom Run Event held at the Middle Eastern Conflicts Walls, while driving through Coffee County, Tennessee toward Nashville. There was a very bad rain storm and my car hydroplaned from the west bound lane of I- 24 to the east bound lane and a quarter of a mile off the interstate into some trees. I am ok accept I have to have surgery on my left ankle , however, my car was totaled and I have only liability insurance because my car was eleven years old and paid for, I now do not have a car. I am on disability so I do not have the income to buy another car. I do not have any family to help me out so all I know to do is put my information out for all, incase there just may be some one or group that might could help me. I do not own anything that I could sell or use to get any kind of load nor do I have the income to make loan payments. I do not event draw enough money a month to pay for all of my medication. The volunteer work I do and the events I go to, to honor my son and others is what get me through each day and with out a car I will be confined to my apartment. So I hope one of your groups or maybe some other group or person you may know of will be able to help get another car for me. It is very hard for me to send out this request, but I have to do something and there are two answers by sending this request, yes or no, however, if I don't send out the request there is only one answer which is no.

I have sent this email to many in hopes that you will also send it out to any group that you know might be able to help me. Thanks to all of you for your help.

He came by to see me at school. He often volunteered before he went to boot camp. Everyone was so proud. Including his mom.
