Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Someone with an SR in my daughter's group got a phone call and they said no letters have gone out yet but they may be able to call home on Saturday.  I'm sure hoping that they do!

Div 39 Yay Caleyrae13, so happy you got to talk with your boyfriend! So what's the scoop, if you feel like sharing. How is the division faring...are they sick like I have read about other division? Was this a reward call or is the whole division calling today? Sorry so many questions, I'm starving for information!

That's great Navymom65. I hope my daughter is able to hook up with a family for the day.

Laurie, That was a good idea to have thanksgiving before BC.  I thought of doing that a bit too late but we did have a large gathering of family the Saturday prior to her leaving.

We are only 6.5 hours away so we will be going for Thanksgiving.  I told my daughter in one of the letters I wrote to go ahead and invite another SR for us to adopt for the day.  I hope she does, I would really like to help another SR have a day off to relax.

Comment by Pagesnavy on October 29, 2015 at 8:38pm
Navymom65 we will not be going for Thanksgiving. We are in Florida and it's just too much to try and do both. We had Thanksgiving before she left.
