Wishing the best to Dalton and any surgery he has. Here's hoping that he gets all healed up and comes back to the Navy!

Well, got to speak to someone. The Navy won't fix his foot because it was a pre-exisiting condition. SO, they are sending him home to have the surgery. They are releasing him with a code that will allow him to re-enlist. If not now in the near future. Maybe the cuts will subside soon. My mom says in her 67 years of life there are times of cut backs and then they are released, so here's to hoping. Guess we will apply for scholarships. Someone suggested the ROTC program at the local college. I was great to get a chance to visit with such uplifting wonderful women! I truly wish the best and greatest for each and everyone your loved ones! Hats off to them for sticking it out! Have fun at PIR!!! I'll be thinking about y'all!!! HUGS

Cherie!

Hi ladies!! dianneep...I agree. Michael DEP'd in in Jan 10, left in Oct...he could have left earlier....right after graduation (well about a week after graduation), he was going to do that since he'd have just got through with baseball and basketball at school, but I told him to wait till at least Sept---mainly b/c for the past 4 years he's done 2--5 sports at school and his summers are completley full with all the practices...I thought he needed a summer to be with his friends and chill before starting his careeer....he knows the nuke program is tough, and i"m hoping with the encouragement he gets from everyone we know, he'll make it through and do well! He went to a small school k-12 with 350 kids, he was there all 13 years, he's the first one from our school to make it into a program like this...most who go into the service go to just get out...if that makes since no future and they want job skills....We have a ton of people wirting to MIchael, and i agree, the more the better!!!

sherrinukemom and Tabbi: Makes us so appreciate that our loved ones are in the Navy because it is so hard to get in now, right. My son enlisted Jan 2009 and went to bc in Nov 2009. He knows that there are lines behind him for his position so he had better do it well. Hopefully that pressue will get our sailors to really do their best all the time and develop a great work ethic and appreciation for their jobs.

JKT0046: you are doing exactly what he needs by writing lots! They usually don't receive any mail until they have been up there 2 weeks....but the good part is that he will get lots of letters at once and they LOVE that. They also can't send mail out until that time.

Ladies, be sure to be bold and ask special people in your recruit's life to write to them. Maybe even give out pre-addressed stamped envelopes to encourage them! Family members, friends, neighbors, special teachers or coaches...anyone who had a special impact on your recruit's life. I did this for my son...and he so appreciated the letters he got. The first part of bc especially is very hard emotionally for them and these letters mean alot to them. So don't be shy! ASK! You would be surprised how many would love to do that. Some who know a teacher may even ask if a whole class can write to their recruit! A good way to get young students to appreciate our military.

that is correct....heard the same thing. AF did that several months ago...cam had a mishap that delayed him and they said it would take over a year. They Navy was able to work with him.

Dalton's mom...I agree. My hubby was a recruiter for over 3 years, he says what Tabbi said, the chances of them letting him back in are slim....plus when I've went into our Navy office, the Chief said they can't even talk to anyone right now...they cant put anyone else in for over a year....many of the guys they have now are being delayed for 4-6 weeks b/c of cuts. If there is anyway at all he can stay there and take care of it, it'd be better. Just stay positive and encourage him alot! He can get through this! All of our boys can!!
