SuSu:  Yes, that is true as long as you are able to get a military gate pass from the airlines...and as long as they aren't on a charter flight....can't see them then.

...and I'm a FL girl too....but it is getting too warm for me too quickly!  We know how long our hot humid weather lasts!  I need a little more cooler weather before we are into that!  :-)

I received a letter today.  My son confirmed as well he is grad and go.  So we think they can spend Friday with us and then Saturday they are leaving, is that what you guys understand as well?  I do understand once they do get to the airport we can hang out there until their flight takes off, do you guys understand the same thing?

Missing Sailor D - thanks for some more ideas, I went out looking today but nothing struck me that I liked.  My son is going to Pensacola he says, I hope that is right.

I hate to hear everyone along with our SR's are having such cold, bad weather.  Come to Florida, it is already warm here.  I know my son will be glad to get back in the heat, that Florida boy cant stand the cold

I got my husband an engraved pen/pencil set from Cross but I also knew that he wanted that specifically.  :)

Kathy - I heard that from my husband -- that's part of what inspired having the 4th graders make the cards for the division. I'll write letters to this young man directly if you want to pass me the address. My husband might enjoy the break. :)

We have a SR in div 114 that has NOT recieved one letter since being in basic.  This young man needs letters and lots of them.

Other great gift ideas for new sailors include: a watch, Navy Coin, A crucifix, or a Nex gift card. We got a crucifix for our sailor and the cross was an anchor. It was beautiful. (It does have to be smaller than their dogtags) Just remember any jewelry has to be silver or white gold. Only officers are allowed to wear yellow gold. I do believe there is an excepting for wedding rings but I am not positive about that.

debotur, my SR is a grad and go and he said he has 5 to 10 hours with us. Navywife23's husband said he leaves saturday morning so it just depends!

Ok girls, my SR's girlfriend is not sure what to get him for a graduation gift.  She wanted to get him the new iphone but I think she should get him something he will have forever like a Navy ring?  They dated all their senior year of high school, broke up at the end of their senior year.  They got back together about 6 weeks before he left and are making long term plans.  They didn't date about 2 1/2 yrs but remained friends.  She needs gift ideas?

just found out that my boyfriend is a grad&go :( but what he also wrote was that he was excited to see what illinois was like outside of bootcamp which is confusing me and his family... how long do they have with their family before they leave for their flight? is it a couple minutes or a couple hours?
