My son mentioned Hell week, too. Somehow I don't think it's like joining a college fraternity, which could be a good or bad thing! : ) Sounds like your son is doing great. One month to PIR!
Hi everyone got my phone call to around 6 pm for 20 min. Sounded so good to hear his voice. He sounded very upbeat, no negativity. Said the food was good and he was eating, and sleeping well. Has a cold and got a "cold pack" but that wasnt helping much. Overall seems to be doing fine. He also was Div. leader the first week, said it wasnt easy but got through it!
Letter day - hopefully! : )
Got one today! Woo hoo! Wednesday's are like Christmas - ya never know what ya might find in the mailbox. :)
Hi Katie, Christmas comes on Thursday for us, probably because we're on the East Coast. : )
Hi Ladies, Where is everyone? Any news from our Sailors to be? Missed a phone call last Sunday, hoping for mail on Thursday.
Hi ladies!! Sorry I have been MIA on here. I just have been discouraged, that this board isnt just for our use.
I want to share concerns and excitement but not have to worry about the information embarrasing her. So I have been torn. But its killing me not to share with you all!! SO sorry baby, Im excited!!

Got two letters today!! man I needed that!! I try and write her almost everyday...though it gets hard coming up with information I know she will want to know. Most of the big news hasnt been interesting...and this new health care system law...well I dont think its an issue for her now...Navy free medical...
But she sounded in good spirts. Says they get IT'd because her division cant get it together. But even that she is taking in stride.

Big concerns no is "Hell Week" THere is so much going on, its crazy. Inspections, inspections!!
So keeping my fingers crossed that they rock it out..collect all there flags, pass all inspection with flying colors!!
And think of the plus side...If they get IT"D alot...just think of how inshape they are going to be!! They will be lean and tone!!...My daughter was already really lean so I hope I dont get a skeleton with muscles..hahah

I hope you all got letters and I am hoping for a phone call tonight??? Today??
TOmorrow?? Ok anytime..just call!!

Hugs!! Cant wait to meet everyone in like 22 days!! WEHOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Missed phone call - AARRGGG!!!! I haven't heard anything since the last letter. Looking forward to another phone call, but I'm looking forward to April 16 even more! : )
Hello Everyone ~ My son is Ship 13 Div 159. I've received 3 letters so far. He called his dad last week and they got to talk for a few minutes. He's doing well, although he did catch a cold. He said the work outs are a joke (he's Special Warfare), but the food isn't bad - getting a little repetitive: he likes that he can eat as much as he wants in 15 minutes. He's 205 lbs, 6'2" so it takes a lot to fill him up. He mentioned that he has a met a good guy and his mom is Mrs. Fanning. Are you out there Mrs. Fanning? He's the Medical Yeoman and works with the Dental Yeoman - are any of you the mom of the Dental Yeoman? Toodles -- Katie
Katie, just found out yesterday that my son Andrew was made the dental yeoman, so that must be him. My son's name is Andrew.
Hi everyone! Recieved another letter today, and yes he said that they got IT"D (intense training for messing up) He said "it was fun", and then said "NOT" He sounded upbeat and had just gotten about 6 letters. It was very short, he had to respond to some friends letters, too!
My first letter was one page and my second was two pages. My third was one page and I noticed the handwriting was a little messy. With so many people to write I'm sure Zac's hand gets tired. How old is your son? Is this his first time away from home? My son is a little older than some of the guys. He went to college first. He's 24. Originally he wanted to go SEAL but there is a 2 year wait just to get into pre-BUD/s. He's opted to go EOD, which I think suits him much better. This weekend we are going to watch The Hurt Locker. In his last letter he suggested we watch it, but to keep in mind it's a movie and that it's Army and "EVERYONE knows that the Navy is the BEST!" He said his first couple of weeks weren't any fun, but it's much better now and he enjoys what he's doing and looking forward to really starting his career training. The kid's an animal.
