msbabyphat-YAY!! Glad you got a call, and that your SR is feeling better today.

I just got a phone call from my son!!! Yeepie!!!
We only got to talk 4 about a couple of minutes--I could hear someone in the background hollering for everyone to go and my son said it was the Lieutenant ordering everyone to leave out. Don't know what that was about. And yes I wish it could have been longer as I have so many questions for him but-----at least I got to hear his voice.
He sounded so bad and said that he had ran a fever yesterday of 104 and they put him on bed rest. Fever is gone today-thank goodness. His throat was scratchy and he said his chest hurt real bad from the congestion. He also mention that alot of SR were getting sick-I guess those close quarters will spread the cold quickly. My son is not one to lay around when he is sick. So I know he must have been feeling rough in order for him to go seek medical attention.
He did make me laugh. When I answered the phone, he started singing one of the songs they march to!! LOL Something about mama, mama--LOL. I think another mom posted that chant up here previously. He has a great sense of humor and I am sure the strong comedian in him has everyone in his div laughing.
It was nice to hear from him but sad that I only got a few mins. But I'll take those few mins anyday!!

And guess what? I am a Proud Navy Mom!!!

Chalires mom - I get it. Casey seems to be struggling himself, but I am telling myself that he just came off hell week, and I know that he is only getting 6 hours of sleep a night. I know that he is homesick, misses things ALOT more than he thought and no matter how tough they are, this is a transition for many of them. Casey was my kid who never wanted to spend the night anywhere, liked to be close to home and he decides to join the Navy? Silly boy......we tried to tell him that this adjustment will be difficult but he WILL get through it, its part of growing up.

Division 941 - If I am correct, which I would be suprised with how fried my brain is lately, our battlestation is on the 23rd or 24th?

californiamom-
No he did not say how it happened. He did me during the phone call on the 27th that he was sick and that he had went to sick ship and they told him he had a cold. He said, he thought it was more of a sinus infection..but he was no doctor. He also said that his ear felt like it had water in it all the time and that it was very annoying. He went back to sick ship and again they told him "it's a cold". Now he has a ruptured right eardrum..and honestly I am NOT very pleased with this news.
His rating was submarine electronics and now this has disqualified him. He is still waiting as of Sunday to find out how this will all play out for him. His doctor appt. is Monday. I just hope he doesn't get set back. He said he has been pushing through. He is proud of his division for working well together now. ;-)
As far as he changing from a grad & Go there still is no certainty to that. I was hoping they would be allowed to call today. He wrote they were told that they could call on Thursday (today).

Yes. Div 285 &286 are brother divisions. I beleve they do everything together (like real brothers) and my son said that his div 285 is competing against 286 for the Captains Cup. (friendly competition....just like bros!). So yea, I think they are pretty much on same schedule together......including the biggie: Battle Stations. Here they will be pulling as a true team because they ALL want to pass with flying colors.

Tnpromised- I'm sorry about your boy's ear drum rupturing. Did medical say how that happened? So now instead of being sec he is going to be an aecf? What do those acronyms mean btw? On the bright side, don't those sailors whom are great lakes A school get to spend overnight time with families? Or is it grad &go's for great lakers? Anyone know for sure? Sobe.....you there?
