Glad you got your flight booked. I checked into Spirit too but after all the additional charges I opted out.

ladies,

I received 3 letters today from James.

We might get a call today!! he said the RDC's told them Thursday. This letter was dated 08/08/10 (Sunday).

He has been sick and now diagnosed with a ruptured eardrum. He said that this has disqualified him from his SECF rate and is awaiting to here what his other options may be. He said he was sick on the day that the division did Marlinspike and missed that. He was upset about missing Marlinspike. He said he had to go to "Special Physical" for his ear?? He said the corpsman there said they would schedule him an appointment to see the doctor. His appointment is scheduled for 08/16/10. He still hs a sore throat and a cough but no fever, chills or headache and has been fighting through it. He ran a fever last Wednesday - Friday.
Good news he did advance to E-2. ;-)Hooray!
He said they told him he would probably be AECF now and that his A school will be in Great Lakes and then he would not be a grad and go any longer.
The division has earned 3 flags- scholastic flag, athletic flag and zone flag. They are coming together better as a group. Said senior chief promised them each 2 items of the McDonalds menu if they 5.0 drill. He said they 5.0 zone so 5.0's are possible. He said they have been practicing drill alot and they look good!
He wants to go to the Verizon store after PIR while on liberty and get a new cell phone.

I am so very proud of him and the division. I hope that his ear drum rupturing will not interfere with his battle stations or PIR.

Hi Zac's mom. Yes I love know what is going on each day. Well by now, div 941 has been through the gas chamber. I will ask my son Christopher about sights in Chicago...he has seen alot being there almost 6 months. I will be back with you later today when he emails me back the details.

Take care, Susan :-)

shannong-Midway may be farther than Ohare, but we found the fares more reasonable flying into Midway. I don't know what your plans are one you land. Are you taking the Metra to GL? For our son's graduation we flew into Midway, too the El train to downtown Chicago...riding the "EL" you get a spectacular view of the city. I cannot remember the stop you get off at..I will ask my son if he remembers(he was stuck in GL for several months and so is very familiar with Chicago) Anyway, once you get off the EL then you walk a few blocks to the Metra Station...easy walk...and the ride to GL is about 45 minutes. We rented a car on the other end at GL that way we did not have to struggle with the unfamiliar traffic. This time we are taking Amtrak and the Metra station is right across the street from Union station. Again we have a rental car reserved in Great Lakes.

For DIV 941 people...here is the schedule that Eryn told me

August 10 5-2 day
Aug 11 gas chamber
Aug 12 Fire fighting
Aug 13 first performance
16-20 more fire fighting
18 off base performance
20 Test # 3 2nd performance
23 battle stations

Wow! Alot happens when I don't get to keep up with the blog....its a work day for me.

Boxermom-Thank God your son is okay. I think that you are living every mother's WORST nightmare. I HATE those stupid mirrors that stick out far away from the truck...I think they should be outlawed!! But why in the h*ll was 77 year old lady driving a dually pickup truck??!!! Your son and your family will be in my continued prayers.

Sam0618-in regards to your drunk MIL....there has been lots of great advice in regards to this. Some people such as her are what are known as "emotional" vampires...they THRIVE on the negative emotions they conjure with their actions. DO NOT get pulled into her drama...I know that someone like that always figures a way to turn things to the negative...but don't let her do it! Keep company with positive people and positive surroundings...if possible just ignore her. If she chooses not to go...that's HER problem NOT yours. Just drop her from the loop!

Cathy-poor you...I can't even imaging that this "GF" is still trying to strong arm her way into your family affairs. I would just ignore her if that is possible. Same suggestion as for "newlywed girl" some people, and it sounds like this little baby crying baby girl is the same as MIL....an emotional vampire...she is thriving on the attention she feels she is getting from the negative emotions that she conjures up by her actions...just ignore her...I know that is hard...but just keep venting here...its good for you!

KristinaR-girl I hope that your are feeling better now that those nasty wisdom teeth are gone!

Eryn's letter yesterday was short very vague and dated Sunday August 8th. They start performing this week, and are going off base for a performance. Maybe her next letter will have more detail. But she is doing well...still staying out of trouble, not getting sick or hurt...big prayer for continued health for all our recruits. Their division gets to go to the NEX next week...boy they will be like kids in a candy shop.

Well, its HOT again today 103++ and we have to cook pizza in front of a wood fired oven at 700+ degrees yeah :-{
