Carol, that is an awesome story. It makes me stop to think and wonder, how many times have I been a witness unknowingly to someone who was too afraid or ashamed to ask for me to pray for them. Also, makes me stop to think about how I reflect the love & faith in Jesus. Thanks for sharing that story.

AMEN! Hobbits mom.

A youth group our family helps support has been traveling through the Midwest with their witnessing and bringing other youth to God. I just have to share this blog of an event that happened to them last week.

"Drive Through

She walked up to the window and stood there waiting for me to roll it down. I was surprised to see her right next to our van. We were somewhere outside of Chicago, pulling in for supper at an A&W KFC combo restaurant. It was nestled between two truck stops and we realized how small the parking lot was too late. Since we couldn’t go forward or backward, we decided to pull around the drive through. We didn’t order anything, just pulled through - and got stuck. For thirty minutes we were wedged between two cars, an A&W and a brick wall. And there she was.

We rolled the window down and a lady wearing blue jeans and a pink shirt said, “I noticed your van name and wanted to ask if you would bless us? My husband and I are on the way to Ohio and we need a blessing.”

Our immediate thought was that she needed money. But, she just wanted prayer. She put her hand through the window to hold my hand for prayer. Josh prayed for the lady. And she left. A few minutes later, she came back to the window. We realized she was stuck in the drive through behind us. This time, we were sure she wanted to ask for financial assistance.

I rolled down the window and she said, “my husband is too shy to come up here, but he wants a blessing too.” Josh and Zak got out of the car and went to pray for the woman’s husband in the car behind us.

It was a new experience for me. And after reflecting on the situation, I was intrigued. Was it the name Harvest Ministry on the side of the van that caused her to ask for a “blessing?”

Mark 11:24 says, “Whatever you have asked for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” I believe that couple received a blessing that day because they asked for it. And it made me wonder if I forget sometimes to ask for a blessing. It also made me wonder if we take faith too lightly. We speak Jesus name every single day, but then it surprised us when someone came up to ask for prayer in such a desperate way.

People need Jesus. It was definite to me in that moment."

I say--Amen--someone reached out and touched Jesus' robe at that time.

Hi Everyone;
Thank you for your prayers. I have set my retirement date for 7-22-09.The lay off will be effective on the 24th, so I was advised that to be able to keep my medical benefit (75%) of the cost being paid by the court that I needed to retire while still a current paid employee. I was put on 'administrative leave' until the 24th. So, that is why the date - to keep the medical benefit. Otherwise, we would loose that benefit. The 'severance agreement' would have taken away all rights that I had under the MOU, Policies & Procedures of the court. It is worth too much for our future. So, there we are. Thank you for your prayers. I'll be helping with Grandma & Grandpa once things get settled. Next week will be going to CalPers to get all the paperwork taken care of. Worse case I loose a couple of days pay - best case I have the medical benefit in tact.
Shirley (sailor's mother in-law) is home on mophine and as comfortable as she can be at this time. The hospital was able to rehydrate her. We understand that they will be able to visit sometime in the next couple of weeks. A lot depends on her health. He may be able to bring out littlest angel up to give his wife a break.
We all appreciate your prayers. It has been a challenge to figure this out. Your prayers have helped. My angel blessings and Navy Mom hugs to all, Susan
Our sailor is off of the Penn (sub) and switching to shore duty at Bremerton. Still a NUKE - always will be. We will see how the work changes for him - don't think I can understand any of it - but at least he will be above water for his girls~s

Dear Lord, our Gracious and loving Heavenly Father, we come to you with so many prayer requests tonight. Please hear each and every one and we pray that we can all accept Your will to be done even if it isn't what we want or expect. Be with the families in each request. Put the right people in the right place to give comfort and encouragement to each of them. Lay your loving hand over each and everyone. We ask these all in Your loving and precious name, Jesus Christ. Amen
