Luckymomx4: How is your son doing now? Which college did he attend, and is he in the NROTC there? I know from my son's experience, they didn't award ROTC scholarships in the first year of college. He was in the Civil Air Patrol since he was 12, but didn't elect to enter the ROTC program in college until after his Sophomore year. He was carrying a double engineering major (Mechanical & Nuke) and still had 3 more years to go - the University had one 3-yr. NROTC scholarship left at that point. My son applied 3 weeks before the start of his Junior year and found out the day before classes started that he got it.
I hope your son is still not discouraged - they need pilots in both the Navy and the Air Force. My son is an F18 pilot. He realized early on that attitude was extremely important - have your son keep his chin up and don't stop trying!!!
