That is awesome that he graduates this week! My son will be starting week 4 when your husband gets to MA school. It is tough when they are little. My husband is in the Navy Reserves and was a prior service Marine. The first time he deployed, I think my now sailor was 6 and his brother was 9. It was tough on them.

Our kids are 3 and 5 and 11. Harder on the little ones than the older, because they have been writing back and forth. My SR graduates this week, I still haven't put the house up for sale. I wrote about it to him, but he never responded to my questions, such as list price and so forth. MA school is about as long as BC, and he mentioned C school in his last letter, but I know that may not happen as he has to basically earn that for what he wants to do.
I agree with Goalie Mom, you should put the house on the market ASAP. Even if you get a buyer right away, it will take a while to close. How old are the kids? You can do little things to help them get through boot camp. They can write letters every day for dad or draw pictures every day. I am sure your husband would love them. You can also buy 2 jars and put marbles in 1 (one for each day until your husbands PIR) they take a marble out of the jar and put it in the other jar. It help…

It help them visually to see how many days are left until daddy graduates. "A" school will be so much nicer, even though he is still away, you can talk on the phone or skype everyday!

The info above is correct with the exception of the use of the words "MAA rate" and the use of MAA in the reply. That should say "San Antonio(SA) is the only school for the MA rating."

There were additional "A" School locations for MA "A" School, but that ended in the fall of 2008 and since then Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio is the only location. Each rating now only has one location for "A" School.

The rating is Master at Arms and it is abbreviated MA, not MAA. Yes, there are groups that include MAA in the title, but that is incorrect.

Hello kerbear2709,

Sorry that this response is a couple of days late, but between Christmas and my son leaving for his first assignment, I'm behind a bit.

San Antonio(SA) is the only school for the MAA rate.

My son left the morning after graduation from BC(PIR). They left the RTC in the wee hours. I met they new sailors at the airport. they check into the USO, until it's time to check in to their airline. MA's flew on United to SA.

He was in SA for about 10 days before they started class. They settled in did PT and swept some floors. They worked on a checklist of things to accomplish and have signed off on the completion of each task and required for the MAA Graduation.

They received their assignments about 3 weeks in to the MAA program which for my son was ~Columbus Day. PIR 9/25, arrive SA 9/26, began classes around 10/6 or 7, received assignments around 10/12-5. Grad from A School was 11/24/15.

Listing you house ASAP is probably best. Good luck as you begin your life as a Navy family.
