SRMom, it all depends on the command and the Needs of the Navy at that command. Yes, MA's often spend a lot of time just watching and waiting for someone to mess up--in a car, on foot on the base or in a port town, in harbor patrol, or on foot on a vessel depending on where your Sailor is assigned. They are the Navy's military police, so think of the things that a civilian police officer does and just move it into the places that the Navy could send her. I see you've checked out the Break down week by week; everything that they train for is something they could face. https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ma.pdf tells some of the things an MA could do. Things related to K-9's and the brig require "C" School training beyond "A" School.
My fiance is the same thing and he told me it is like being the military police. i know he is going to cuba and has harbor patrol for his first tour if that helps you at all. They get to shoot lots of different guns and get oc sprayed in A school.
So, being new to the Navy I have a question. My daughter is going to be an MAA. My brother told me they are just glorified security guards. Is this correct? He said that they stand watch on the ship or roam the grounds around the ship.
proudmama, check out Break down week by week. You can get the baby shampoo and be getting together the things that she will want.
Hi All my SR will be there in 8-9 weeks- anything she's going to need that I could be picking up for her to have ready to ship to her?
