Until Phase 3 they have to either take a taxi or ride the bus. I agree it stinks, living so close I have been there several times to see my son and we have had to take a taxi downtown when I had a perfectly good vehicle right there. I guess they have their reasons for their rules. Make sure it isn't a duty day for him as he can't leave the immediate area on duty days except to go to the chow hall.
Dmondrik- My daughter graduated last Friday and it started at 9:00.
Does anyone know what time the graduation ceremony is? My son graduates on the next Friday the 25th and I have not been able to find out the time yet. We only live about 3 hours from San Antonio and we are trying to decide if we should come the night before or that morning but I don't know what time the ceremony is. That would really help with the decision.
Jessica1028, he will be able to tell you when he will be able to take leave and it should be the day of his graduation or the day after, but he can't take leave until he has his orders. Most of the time there is not a problem and orders are cut before graduation, but every once in a while one or more Sailors must wait for orders after graduation.
Trying to plan my trip for Graduation and I am not sure if I should fly or drive. If I fly I need to go ahead and book the ticket before prices go up... If my Husband can come home for leave I would rather drive so we both can come back together.
My husband starts A School next week.. When did your Sailors find out where they would be stationed and if they can go home for leave between A school and the first station?
Bugsmama, my daughter also graduates on the 25th and that is the information she gave me. She will be riding home with us, her sister and I. It is a 14 hr drive for us, but once we get home she is only 2 hrs from her reserve station in St. Louis. Does anyone know if the directions for the gate to go in directions to the building is still current?
Bugsmama - My son is graduating on Jan 25th and is also in the reserves. Congrats to your daughter! The info we received via my son is that they will not be released to leave until the next morning. We will be able to spend some time with them that day and then they have things to do as well but as far as actual released to leave for good is not until the next day. Now I don't know about your daughter's reserve unit but my son has to report to his reserve unit within 24 hrs for his orientation but we only live 3 hours from San Antonio so it may be different since you live so far away. She can find that information out from her sponsor.
