Hi group.
My son is in boot camp now but will be in the SECF field upon graduation....right? Maybe after A school....anyway....he graduates on 11/1. Really hoping for a warm tropical spot for A school like Charleston but not sure how that is decided. Thanks for being here to help guide all the new families and friends of our U.S. Navy servicemen.

My son graduates BESS next week. He is SECF and got his first choice of ET-COMM. Has anyone been down this path and can tell me some details about A school and beyond? All he knows at this point is that he'll be in Groton for about a year and a half. I'd love to know more if anyone can share their knowledge and experiences. Thanks!

Three weeks after I originally tried to apply, they seemed to ignore my request for a 3 bedroom and told me I am on a wait list for a 2 bedroom (Trident Park?). It appears they are trying to have Bealfour Beatty place me in a 2 bedroom despite only applying for a 3 bedroom. It makes no sense to me as I qualified for a 3 bedroom at my other base when I was an E-3. I only have experience with the base housing office at my old base I am leaving... what are peoples opinions about the base housing at Groton and the housing office? Are they difficult to work with? So far it does not appear that they my interests as a sailor in mind, or seem to be trying to help me.

Hi Navy Family,

We started a fb group called "Loved Ones of Groton, CT Sailors", and would love to hear from you. Many of us have Sailors that are brand new to Groton, or have SR's that are going there after PIR. We are looking to learn from each other, and welcome others who can show us the ropes!
