It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling! They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call! Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well. NMH for you all!!

Oh ladies this crazy navy ride is going to give me a nervous breakdown for sure!!! First let me say I'm at a library on my way to the mall - couldn't stay away from you Moms!!!
Got here yesterday afternoon, and checked in at Navy Lodge around 3:10 PM. Patrick told me to meet him at the gate at 4 PM. He also told me to be dressed up because he didn't want to look "better than me". LOL Sooooo, I have to hurry, freshen up, put on a skirt, nice sweater, stockings & heels (which thank God I brought because I wanted to take him out for a very nice dinner). But before all this, he tells me he has "duty" on Thursday and won't be able to see me at all that day! Friday he'll have 3:30 to 8:30 PM and then Saturday and Sunday he could have all day. Well, I'm booked to go home on Saturday morning, so I was heartbroken.
I most definitely feel your pain Peejay. With this boot camp experience, you just never know anything for sure it seems, until the moment comes. I have learned a few things since I got here though...tell your son to ask for a "special liberty chit" because his family is here for Thursday. He goes to his petty officer with this request. I'm praying big time that you will have this precious time with him. Oh, and btw, your son's name was mentioned to me last night. He and my son are good friends! = )
Anyway, I'm working to change my flight to go home Sunday so I might have all day Saturday with him to go into downtown Chicago. Sometimes the airlines will waive the "change fee" if a military person's orders have changed. Stay tuned...
Anyway...I was waiting in my car for him at the base, and when he was walking toward me I didn't even recognize him!!! I'm serious ladies - I didn't even think the young man walking toward me was my son!!! He looked AMAZING! Dressed in black pants, and a black pea coat with cover (hat). Under the coat he had a khaki shirt. He looked so handsome and such the "man". Wow! Big time changes have happened here, not only in looks, but in behavior and attitude! Alllll goooood! We have a lovely dinner at a restaurant called Biaggis, and had a booth right across from a fireplace. Very nice and quaint! Then we went to Best Buy to get him a new cell phone, and before I knew it I was taking him back to the base. Nice thing is in THU (temporary holding unit), they are able to have and use their phones after 3:30 PM every day if they don't have duty. So, that's one big change that while he's still here is certainly a great positive. I'll obviously write more once I'm home, or perhaps during the day tomorrow if I decide to make another library trip!
Praying for all of you, as your day grows closer to seeing your beloved sons. (Great news Navy2011Mom!)
navy2011mom sooo happy FOR YOU getting closer and closer...
Hooray for your SR, Navy2011Mom!
My son's girlfriend just called, and when he was able to make a phone call, she was the one he called -- go figure!! LOL!! She said that he has made in back into Phase 3 and is hoping for only about 4 more weeks of RCU. YIPEE!!! Getting closer to the end every day...
Peejay and Patrick's Mom... I know you'll have a great time seeing your Sailors!! We are all so excited for you, and can't wait until we hear about what it was like to see them after such a long time. Relax and enjoy yourselves -- you DEFINITELY deserve it. Big HUGS to you!!!
Karen, Have a fabulous time with your SR!
Peejay, Special prayers that your SR gets liberty tomorrow night and you get to spend some time with him before he ships out Friday.
Just got a call from my SR and the Nukes are shipping out Friday morning and he will not be able to see us Friday as we had planned. We are flying out tomorrow and are praying he gets liberty tomorrow night but he doesn't know since he had requested liberty for Friday and the Chief isn't in. Currently he has duty. Needless to say, I am crushed but we are flying to Milwaukee anyway hoping when we get there tomorrow they will give him some time off but as he said, I can't assume anything.
Navy2011Mom, I'll try to get an answer on that one for you. There are definitely lots for sure!
I'm headed out the door to the airport right now! Last night made reservations to visit Patrick while in THU (temporary holding unit). I'll arrive in Chicago around 1 PM, and will be there today, Thursday, Friday, and will come home Saturday. Needless to say I'm sure, I can't believe I'll be hugging my boy this afternoon...and taking him out to dinner tonight!!!
I don't know if I'll be able to be online at all while I'm gone (I don't have my own laptop), but please know I haven't forgotten about any of you. Barby, you're so on my heart and in my prayers.
May God bless you all and your SR's. I'll definitely be back on once I'm home if not while I'm away!
Love and hugs to you all, and a great big thank you to ALL the wonderful ladies here who have supported me, and helped to get me through this boot camp experience, especially with the extra month of RCU thrown in there!!! You're amazing, and I'm grateful to you beyond words!
Karen
Does anyone know how many kids do BattleStations at one time? There must be lots of kids that go at once, right?
