It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling!  They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call!  Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well.  NMH for you all!!

I got a phone call this morning from my son which made me very happy, because I missed getting one last weekend due to their getting their call time cut short.  His healing is progressing faster than expected, and if everything continues to go well, he is hoping to be done with boot camp in 10 days.  Monday will be a holiday for them.  I did ask him to confirm that for those wondering.  Then beginning on Tuesday, he will do firefighing, gas chamber, Test 3, 2 PFA's and will also have a doctor's appointment to clear him FFD.  If all THAT goes well, he will most likely do Battlestations either Sunday night, 1/26 or Monday night, 1/27.  Upon successful completion, he'll go to THU (temporary holding unit) on Tuesday, and we'll be allowed to see him on Wednesday & Thursday while he awaits his orders for sub school.

Honestly, I'm trying not to get too excited here (which is REALLY hard), because as you all know, things can change in the Navy in an instant, especially when they are injured.  I'm praying all goes according to plan and he is able to complete everything in the timeframe he's hoping to.  I did say "I bet you can't wait to get out of there", to which he responded, "Mom, you have NO IDEA!".

I certainly hope to be planning a trip for 2/28 (which is 1 month, 1 day after his original PIR date).  Will keep you posted ladies, and want to thank you all for your encouragement and prayers throughout this long and difficult ordeal.

Continuing to pray for God's healing hand over each of your SR's.

yea, holiday routine...BLAH

Comment by Peejay on February 17, 2012 at 7:08pm

Yep mind muddle hits again.  I did mean the end of Feb. since I was booking travel for the 5th of March instead of the 27th of Feb.  If this week went well, I am hoping he finished fire fighting and only has Battlestations left.

Does anyone know if they have holiday routine for Monday on President's Day?  Just curious...

Comment by SharonW on February 17, 2012 at 3:05pm

Count me in among the letter-less this week!  I agree with Peejay that my son feels a phone call takes the place of writing to us.

He declined my offer to send him books etc. saying he could get them from the library.

Perhaps we will be blessed with a phone call this weekend.  I am thinking those positive thoughts as well.

Comment by Patrick's Mom on February 17, 2012 at 2:28pm

Peejay, you mean the end of February, don't you?  Have things changed or is your son still hoping to do Battlestations the end of this month?
