I would love to hear about some of the other calls...do share. Oh...this is so exciting.

Sorry for all of the posting, but I'm just floating on cloud 9, 10, 11, and 12 right now.

Oh..almost forgot. He's gotten some of my letters, but not all. He hasn't received the Christmas card yet. He still hasn't received the very first letter I sent right after I got his address. He said he mailed me a letter this past Sunday, so hopefully I'll get it tomorrow. I also told him that his bunk mate will be getting cards from some of the other moms in the division.

Finally, the call was about 8 minutes long. He said he only had 5. I hope he doesn't get in trouble for that, but I was rambling like there was no tomorrow.

I'm going to assume that all calls thus far were positive by how happy everyone sounds. My son sounded so good. He did say they pulled 4 teeth, and that he has "head" duty every day. His job is to clean the sinks. He sounded so proud of that. Well, you know what?...I'm proud for him. He also said that he is the Weapons PO for the division, of course he's really excited about that. He said he scored a 92 on the written exam they had this week, but failed the physical by 4 seconds on the running portion. He'll have another two times to pass. I have all the confidence in the world that he'll do it.

I feel so much better now.

I am so sorry for bragging but after having the worst day possible at work I just got the greatest gift.  My son just called.  Life is good again

I haven't gotten any letters. My son is not much of a writer, if he had a computer he would email , no prob., but hand writing has never been his thing. Thank you to everyone for posting the information you are receiving from your sons. It is so helpful to me!! I am absolutely panicked about him getting held back! His graduation date seemed like a God-send! I am a teacher and that weekend is a "long" weekend for me. Two weeks later I have professional engagements I cannot get out of for two weeks in a row and I would be heartbroken if I couldn't go to how graduation.

j's mom - Thanks for sharing! I'm glad someone is hearing something. You're the second person who mentioned that their son has gotten letters from other relatives but not from them. I wonder if they're holding back letters from the moms....hmmmm. Perhaps they think we'll be too mushy and cause them to become even more homesick than they already are.

j'smom - thanks so much for sharing your letter! It's nice to hear that maybe they are starting to get mail now!?! Sounds like they are so worn out!
Really worrisome about the compartment hits. Can you imagine the entore division getting held back? That would be AWFUL!!

I got the third letter from my son today:), but still no phone call! He still has not recieved a letter from me yet though! He did get mail from my Aunt and his little brother, but not from me!! Grrrr! I am glad he at least got some mail though! I just want him to know I haven't forgotten about him. Hopefully now that his mail is starting to get to him, he'll start getting it more regularly.
He sounds so homesick and tired. He fell asleep in a class and had to do jumping jacks for an hour. He called the awful eye-glasses they have to wear "BCG" (Birth Control Glasses) Lol! He says he got his dog tags, he was excited about that. He passed his physical fitness evaluation. 60 situps, 60 pushups, and run 1.5miles in under 12 minutes! He is worried because he is struggling with memorization. He failed his first inspection and barely passed the first half, he's worried he will get Asmo'd (set back 2 weeks). He has so much on his mind and lack of sleep he's struggling with his studies. Says he heard that if they get 3 compartment hits then the whole division gets asmo'd. They already have 2 because a couple of guys left the compartment without making thier beds. Let's pray that don't happen. ugghh! I wish he'd call! Hope you all get letters soon too, and that phone call we are all waiting for!

My son's recruiter told us not to send any care packages or any packages of any sorts. Just cards and letters.
