My husband called saying that he was put into separation's during his boot camp. He said during his short phone call that he was coming home and it would take 10-20 days to process all the paperwork. He said he will be meeting with a legal person in case he wants to fight his case but that he knows some guys who have been in there over 6 months fighting their cases and that he doesn't want to go through all of that so he isn't going to right it. My question is, can he choose to continue through boot camp and get put back a couple weeks into a different division, or once they are separated are they for sure coming home? I haven't been able to talk to him about much detail so I'm trying to figure out what's going on.

Please no rude replies. I'm just trying to get some information on what this all means. Thanks :)

Thanks. Crazy thing was I decided to check to see if he had logged onto his facebook recently b/c of what the lady above said about her son not being able to call and sending a short fb message.....and his history shows 6 days ago he logged in from CHICAGO! Which meant over this past weekend he must have been able to use a computer while in the lounge. In case it's true and they are keeping them from being allowed to use the phones to tell family what is going on I decided to send him a inbox on his fb so hopefully he can get it this weekend if he gets more lounge time and hopefully write me back becuase it's been a week since I've heard anything at all.

Yea our son wild get on and I'd would forever miss him...he may not be calling because he doesn't have the funds. We had sent our son phone calling cards so he could call...maybe that's why you haven't heard from him. I guess bottom line is start accepting the fact he's coming home. It takes a while to accept for both you and him...I still feel like our son was robbed out of something he wanted and deserved...but that's the mom in me :)
I hope you hear from him soon...hang in there!!

I didn't think about that. I thought when I talked to him he said he could buy calling cards there. Maybe he was wrong. Should I send him one in case? Can I just put it in the envelope with his letter that I'm sending him?

Yes you can put a phone card in the envelope you are sending him

Thanks everyone. It is hard to accept he's coming home. I keep wondering if maybe he hasn't called me yet because for some reason he isn't coming home any more. Everyone keeps telling me that once they are in SEPS if they don't fight it there is no way they are coming home though. I'm going to send him a phone card monday :) In the mean time I'm hoping I'll hear from him this weekend. I know they take them to the lounge area's once a weekend and they have phone and internet access there.

Thanks again for all your help :)

hi there, is your son home?  can you tell me how long after the first phone call to tell you that they are being sent home, before they actually come home?   what is the next step?   how do you find out when and how they are coming home?   thx concerned mom

Dear rigrappin3089 you poor thing, that is so tough I know I was in limbo for like 2 weeks and OMG I thought I was losing my mind. These women listened to me go on and on so I feel your pain. I think there are 2 things, 1 is not knowing what the he$$ is going on and 2 not being able to do anything about it. so.... this is what I did to stay sane I devoted 1 hour each day to my daughter I wrote her I prayed for her and I wrote and read messages on this site. I soon realized worrying changed nothing except made me crazy. I finally let go and just left it up to the higher power that whatever is suppose to happen will. Everything is ok for me and my daughter. She is still in SEPS but will be comming home in maybe 2 weeks or so. Now we will carry, anything can happen, so hang in there it will bet better either way it goes. We will be here to support you all the way :)

Hi there.. My son was moved into SEPS from Ship 17 on January 29th.  He was able to call me and ask my opinion to whether he should stay and appeal his case.  He was sent there for Asthma, has never been diagnosed with Asthma in his 18 years of life.  He decided to stay and fight his case, so now the waiting begins for us.  IF he wins, he goes back to BC for the entire 8 weeks again.  He was so excited to be there, and now this.  I have received a few phone calls and letters from him so far.  He tells me that they do a lot of cleaning.. and he has "watch duty" from 0200 to 0400 every morning, so that is when he writes to me while everyone else is asleep.  He says that there are a handful of guys that don't listen and get the entire group in trouble and they lose what little privileges they are given.  He should be able to call every day.. that has not been the case, as I haven't heard from my son since last Wednesday.  I did see I missed a call Saturday from him on my cell phone.  So TAKE your CELL phone Everywhere with you!!   He has made a few friends with other sailors that wish to stay and fight their case as well..  I look forward to every phone call, whether 5 minutes or 20.  I do write to him often as my way of talking to him every day.  It is hard.. Right now i'm leaving it in the hands of the higher  power!!  If it is meant to be, it will.  My prayers are with everyone going through this same ordeal.  Hang in there parents!
