Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

the difference between Ship 5 and SEPS
My son called yesterday. He is in SEPS waiting to come home. I have tried to read as much and many threads I could here but couldn't find the answer. What is the difference between Ship 5 and SEPS. He hurt his knee his Senior year at football...nothing torn just sprained but sometimes it swells. I guess the first 2 days aggravated it and was sent to medical. The knee was no reported on his entry form (if that's the right word)
He said he didn't know if it was permanent or temporary discharge yet. But what I have read it doesn't matter....it hard to get back in no matter what.
I talked to his recruiter last night...He said to not to worry....HA! I'm worried. I didn't even ask Chas if his knee was okay I was so shocked he was calling me.
He said he would call with a phone number on Monday so I can call the "Chief" about him coming home that he would have the information. I'm wondering if that means Chas signed the waiver.
Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

SEPS is where recruits go when they are being separated from the Navy. Ship 5 houses those recruits. It is the barracks.
Sounds like you have been reading some...yes it does sound like he signed the waivers if he wants you to speak with the Chief. He would have to sign the legal waiver and HIPAA for medical...otherwise they won't discuss his case with you.
