I just found this and thought it was cute...

My sailor.Submariner

I love My Sailor so deeply and true

He is my Husband, my Friend and a Daddy too

He chose his fate when signed that line

To become a Submariner and serve his time

As the Submarine is prepped and the workday ends

He comes home to tell me, "It is that time again"

The night before "The Boat" gets underway

We prepare ourselves for that dreaded day

He Packs his sea bag so snug and tight

For it will be time to leave at dawn's early light

With his sea bag across his shoulder

and the tears in his eyes we know it is time for all the goodbyes

My Sailor and his crew are running silent and deep

Protecting our freedom while awake or asleep

For the beautiful flag flies freely in the wind

My sailor will proudly salute it until the very end

If you have never been to the area, then don't go to Hartford. I lived in CT for 21 years, trust me Hartford is not good. Providence is a nice little airport and the drive is way easier. If you are 21+ then you can rent a car through enterprise, if you are 25+ then you can rent from any company. Providence does have the rental companies so that is not an issue. I usually use Orbitz to do my searching, then actually book the flight through the airline directly, that seems to be easiest. Hope all this helps. Let me know if you need any more help. I have lived in CT my whole life until recently so I know it very well, and I flew alot so I know that system well too lol.

the cab fom providence is 125 dollars. I have done it before. I dont suggest it. If you really think you wont need a car just rent it for the day but you will need a car to get around unless you just plan on staying in the hotel.

Than for the car from 1-5th it is 12 a day = 85.79! Through Enterprise!

it would be 318.20 for a round trip 1st-5th! DAL-PVD than you could either rent a car or take the train and than rent a car!?

Where are you coming from, when and can he pick you up if you are close because we live like 2 min. from the train station in New London and we are about 15 min. from base!?

Comment by Hollybear on November 11, 2011 at 5:34pm

A cab from the airport to the train station shouldn't be too bad.  Then you may have to take one from the train station to the base.  Also, have your hubby ask if anyone he knows has a car.  If they do he can maybe get someone to come with him to pick you up and only pay gas... or have them pick you up at the station.
