Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and Christmas. Got to FaceTime with the Grandkids on the East Coast while they opened packages. Fun. I think they were a little overwhelmed. LOL Next year hopefully we will get to be with them on the West Coast, Sub Base Bangor in Washington state when they open their Christmas presents next year.
Wishing everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR and safe travels for all on the USS ALEXANDRIA.
Rebecca K.- Thanks for the kind words....I too miss the old days of our little group. Best of luck to your son in the decision making. My sailor has over 16 years in now and will see it thru. Navy life has its trials and tribulations but they have had a good life and have been provided for quiet nicely if you ask me ;-)
Well, my son will be on Shore Duty officially at the end of the month. He is unsure as to whether he will want to be assigned to another boat if that opportunity arises. Even though he is separated from the Alex, I am still attached to this forum. It has changed so much, because the crew has changed through out the years. I remember at time when the forum was so active, even when the Alex was not deployed. I believe I will continue to pop in from time to time. It is hard to completely more on, for me. I wish all you Ladies the best of everything and a very Happy Holidays to all of you!
I'm happy for you Karyn. Having your family closer to you, so you can see them more often is a blessing. My son is on the West coast now with the boat. We live on the East coast. He is looking forward to shore duty in his future. Yet, it is not in the near future. I read your last post and you are right. We moms and/or wives on the forum have been through a lot together. I've notice the site isn't as active as it once was during the Alex's recent underways. I know its because a lot of ladies' sons or husbands have moved off the boat onto other things in life. Yet, some my pop in from time to time. Once my son leaves the boat I don't think I could leave this forum completely. As I stated before, we've been through a lot together and that is hard to walk away from. I hope everyone is doing well and are able to spend time together with their families, especially around the holidays. I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I am thankful that all of you have been there for me, especially when I need support in the past. Thank You All So Much!
LOL....after scrolling down and reading comments, I guess I am not the only one that was reluctant to leave the group. We did share a lot of time together. I, also, can't seem to leave.
Shellbell2000 glad you got the information you needed. Saw post was gone from USS Alex FB page and wondered if you found out. Came her to check.
Hello all. Hope everyone and their families are doing good. I've not posted here for quite some time. My sailor's land duty is about up and he and the family will be leaving Connecticut for Washington state. Sub base Bangor. Moving to a boomer submarine instead of the fast attack. I believe better suited for family life. 3 months in and 3 months out will be the schedule I'm told. A plus for me......he will be on the same coast as me for the first time in many many years. Bangor was his first sub base (enlisted back in 1999). Since then he has been stationed on the East Coast. Closer so I can see those grand babies more than once year.
Take care everyone and hug those sailors every chance you get.
Thank you for sharing the link Mainemome. Shelbell2000us welcome to the group. I'm glad you received the information you needed. =)
Thanks for sharing the update. My son, Matt left the Alex when it headed into dry dock. It was good to see it is back in the fleet.
My son posted this, so I thought I would share it with the Alex Mom's! Hope everyone is well.
