Do you have a Sailor on the USS Barry?

My son just met up with the Barry a couple of days ago. I haven't seen anyone else say whether or not their Sailor was on the Barry, so upon the advise a good N4M friend, I decided to start a group! Hope there's more Mom's out there that their Sailors call the Barry 'home'.

My son was previously assigned to the USS Fitzgerald but since the accident, he is now assigned to the USS Barry.  I am quite nervous as the 7th fleet has had a rough year.

re hi all

my son used to be on the barry. He is a veteran now. Still I feel so attached to the barry family that I like to check in here every once in awhile to say hello to all and thanks to the families of those who still serve :)

Hello everyone I am new to this group and my son has just been assigned to the Barry. This is his first deployment. When can I expect to hear from him for the first time? Thank you for any information.

Poke'MOM sorry to hear about your son's classmate.  It must be a hard time for everyone.  Praying for the best for your son and the families and loved ones.

My son is returning back to the states in a couple of days.  He will be out of the Navy by the 19th and returning home.  He is on his second deployment on the Barry.

My stepson, Nolan, is getting out of the Navy this week. Four years went by fast.  They'll be flying him to the States this week :)  He is on 2nd deployment on Barry.

Hi Huffy Mom23 - My son Graduated BC jan 2015.  I miss him like crazy right now.  One of his classmates was killed in an auto accident over the weekend, so I know he's missing home right now as well...poor guy!

My son is a sonar tech.  He currently is taking a week of leave in Japan as he was due almost two months of leave.  He has been in the Navy almost four years.  The whole time on the Barry.

Poke'MOM - Is a machinist mate in the engineering dept?  My son emailed me yesterday too.  But he was wanting some information for his thrift saving account. ha  I answered him, but have not heard back again.  Maybe he has duty today.  He said he was going to try and find some WiFi so he can call us.  How long has your son been in the Navy?

My son is also on Barry.  Any advice you can give me on the ombudsman I would appreciate.  I know what it is, just dont know who it is...  How are your sailors doing so far in Japan?  My son is a machinist mate, messaged me last night and said he was tired, he just played soccer.  :)
