For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Glad I provided a laugh. Everytime Chris opened his locker there were howls from the other guys in his berthing!! Told him he needs to get permission for an air freshener in there! When he worked construction, he had two pairs of boots, and the pair not on lived on the heated boot dryer. 18 hours in boots...his socks smell like baby barf. Bad baby barf.
Any of you ladies read the funny on The Goat Locker page (google that) about simulating navy life at home? I laughed till I cried and really felt sympathy for our guys living on ship. Check it out if you haven't seen it yet.

Thanks for the ideas, Teri. I'm thinking about sending the boy some 2 gal. ziploc bags for his dirty socks. Wow. His mates found out about his feet on their last cruise!! He very sweetly made a bee-line to the laundromat on their return to port!! Marcia, I just try to think about all the cool things about our kid. We talk about him a lot, and love on his cat. Hope your guy's dog fits in okay. We have lots of animals, too, and sometimes it takes awhile for the new four-legged kid to fit in.

Okay. I already feel like the phone has become the substitute umbilical cord. Well, not quite. He's pretty independent in a lot of ways, but maybe you know what I mean. I sleep with my phone. I was glad the other night, 'cause he called late needing to talk. Engineering put in a long day and he wanted to unwind some before falling into his rack. Do you have goodie ideas? Besides cookies. I'm not real imaginative...

I know what you mean. We usually talk a couple times a week for hours at a time. I can't stand thinking about not being able to communicate like that. I am already starting to write more again, like we did when he was in school. All the kids here at home miss him something awful. Will your birthday be a total bummer? CJ wasn't home for ours (we share), but was here a few days after. That was special. I think he is surprised how tied to home he is...

More time would have been great. CJ said it was strange to dread a weekend! He's back at the Barry, safe and sound, with his truck. I think that truck is an extension of his inner self ; ). And he plans to bring it back home before they get deployed. Kind of an excuse to come. Did your son fly in? Are you coping knowing he's gone for awhile again? Yesterday I was a little bummed, but today was busy, so therefore better.

Hope you are having a great visit. We've had a super time. Mostly just hanging out, but also got to take in a concert. A celtic band we like was about 1 1/2 hours away a couple of days ago. That was a blast. I am trying to forget he's leaving tomorrow...Smile, Momma.

Kathy, I'm sorry you don't get to see your guy.Our son didn't take any holiday leave so he could have time to come home before deployment. No sweethearts=he doesn't want to have that complication in his life right now. He saw his buddies' lives change after marriage and knows he isn't ready for that yet. So he is still all ours. One more day! And girls, I am praying for the safety of all the guys/girls as they travel. The blue candle gave me an idea to just remember them anytime I light a candle. Or any other time I think of them. Our boy was so excited when he called home the other night-he made oil king on their cruise! Made him feel so good.

Yeah, me, too. I keep waiting for the phone to ring and it be him. First my daughter, then my sister. Next it will probably be hubby (on the road during the week is his usual routine). I think- let it be him!!
