Do you have a Sailor on the USS Barry?

My son just met up with the Barry a couple of days ago. I haven't seen anyone else say whether or not their Sailor was on the Barry, so upon the advise a good N4M friend, I decided to start a group! Hope there's more Mom's out there that their Sailors call the Barry 'home'.

Hi, I don't have exact but have good guesstimate - will inbox you.  It takes 2 weeks to get back, so I think when they actually leave, we will hear from them more, not sure.

Hi Cathy, you don't need rank and division for Navy.  Only the Sailor's name and ship info.

Sailor's Name

USS BARRY (DDG 52)

FPO AE 09565-1270

SpiritLakeMom, we sent goodies (non-melting things like peanuts, skittles, goldfish crackers), crossword puzzle books, magazines.

I also heard late November, haven't heard anything from our stepson in a couple of weeks now.

I sent a letter last week, but was unsure of the rank and division. My son arrived on the Barry on the 18th and did not send any information. I would like to send him a package. Can anyone tell me how to find rand and division. I'm not sure if he received the letter, but am anxious to send him a package. My heart goes out to all of you who have had to endure such a long deployment. I am having a hard time to adjusting to the lack of communication after only 12 days.

Hi SpiritLake; I always had trouble getting on the family web page. There was a weekly letter going out and my son just started forwarding it to me whenever it came out but I haven't received one in a while. I never know what to send or what they need so I just end up sending what every mom probably does.....a box of goodies. :) I figure, if he doesn't eat them he can share with the rest. The packages and letter usually take a couple of weeks.

Wow....I'm really not liking the sound of this November return date. That really sucks!

What kinds of items do you recommend sending in a package? Are letters faster than packages or do they both take a long time?

Has anyone tried to get on the family web page for the USS Barry. We found the site but it won't connect us to the page to sign up for a new registration.

I just found this group, my son is curenly TDY on the Uss Barry.  He is attached the the Uss William which just returned in Nov 2012 from an 8 month outing; he was home only a 4 months and now is out with the Barry.  Last I heard it is now going to be at least Nov till he gets back.  He has made a life out of the Navy but this has been very tuff on his wife and kids.  I just want to say how proud I am of him and all of your service members.  I saw a bumper sticker that said hero don't wear cowboy hats they wear Dog Tags  which is so true.  I have to say I think some times the real hero's are the wives, kids and girlfriends back home.
