USS Bataan LHD-5

Group for family members of Sailors who are on the USS Bataan (LHD-5)

Members: 144
Latest Activity: Aug 25, 2019

I decided to start this group to see who else may have a Sailor on this ship; or heading to this ship.

Granted, we may be a bit limited to what we can discuss openly online, but if nothing else, may be a good way to connect and network off-line as well.

Make sure to not disclose advance ship movements or other OPSEC issues.

My son is an FC2 on this ship.

My son messaged me this morning with around about date for the return. Needless to say i was up crying at 5 this morning, not a good day!! I just never realized it would be over a year before i saw him, the last time i saw him was christmas. I pray he doesnt re-enlist(2yrs left). I'm just angry and really sad about the news.

My son received his Birthday package yesterday, its a week early but at least it wasn't late. I know he is overloaded with stuff again, since the package i sent 2 weeks before the birthday package arrived also.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

Speaking of cell phones: my sailors friend bought a pay as you go cell phone in port and they used that to call. You might suggest that to your sailors for next time. I have no idea how much it was but I know it was cheaper than calling from my sailors actual cell.

Wow they only give us a month notice to make flight plans? I guess we don't know yet what month it might be?
