USS Bataan LHD-5

Group for family members of Sailors who are on the USS Bataan (LHD-5)

Members: 144

I decided to start this group to see who else may have a Sailor on this ship; or heading to this ship.

Granted, we may be a bit limited to what we can discuss openly online, but if nothing else, may be a good way to connect and network off-line as well.

Make sure to not disclose advance ship movements or other OPSEC issues.

My son is an FC2 on this ship.

Ok. Not trying to argue. Just merely speculating about the situation.

I have a friend that was the vice president of her husbands FRG and she the president, the ombudsmen, and the PAO all posted on their page. Maybe that's how ours is working.

I think its a sweet video. I could care less that its there. Gives us all something to smile at when we are having a bad day and missing our sailors.

I agree A.Mitchell, Thank God it didnt start a riot!

In that case I'm not sure why anyone would bother putting a video like that on FB if the sailor wont be able to see it there. super inappropriate.

I thought it was kinda cute. I think they should post stuff like that more often. It probably made that little boys day to know that his daddy would get to see that. Things like that make the FB page a more personal, heartfelt page.

Sandra- My sailor is (well was till deployment) doing the Homeport Ashore thing. He had his room at Carter Hall on base when he was still on shore duty, so when he changed commands he got to keep it. He is an E3. It was a pain in the butt to get the ship to approve it, couple months with no BAH deposited in his account. Once it was settled, he got an amount that was added and taken out on his paycheck. He also got BAS for his food. He really enjoyed living there. Before hand he lived in a barrack with 4 other guys in the same room. With this he just had to share a kitchen and bathroom with a room mate.
