Sharon, that's nice he left home happy and content!  Must have felt good knowing it was the last time saying goodbye leaving for Japan.  When does he come back to the states?

Welcome Sunshine!  My son just hit the 2 year mark in December.  After bootcamp he went directly to Japan.  He wanted Hawaii!  We have family there as that's where my husband is from.  Did your son like being sationed in Hawaii?

We are having unusually mild weather for upstate NY!  They are calling for temps in the mid 50s tomorrow!  Just a couple of weeks ago it was -9 when I got in my car to go to work!  Crazy weather.

Well...have a nice weekend and take care all!

Welcome aboard Sunshine! I'm sure your son will enjoy Japan. Hopefully he'll meet up with some of our kids :)

Marianne, Congrats! I'm sure you must be very excited knowing your son will be stateside soon.

As for me, this was our sons first trip home and it was truly wonderful. I was a little anxious about how I would handle him leaving again, but I did my best to prepare myself mentally......and handled myself much better than I did 2yrs ago. This time I only allowed myself a "one day pity party" LOL

Knowing he was returning to good friends and a now familiar place, made things much easier.

Hope everyone is staying warm and enjoying the new year!

It's pretty toasty here in Florida....we may hit the mid-80's this week:)

Hi Ladies, I am new to this group. My son has been in the Navy 2 years and just got to the ship. He is stationed in Hawaii and this is his first trip. He is super excited to be in Japan.

Sharon - That time really flew by with your sailor.  Doesn't seem possible his time will be up already later this year.  Does he know what he might pursue next?
