I miss being a Crommelin mom....it doesn't sound like things have changed at all in the past few months though!  Our sailor did 4 years on the Crommelin, there were a lot of tough times but he learned a lot, advanced quickly, received quite a bit of recognition and made some great friends!  Tell your sailors to work hard and get to know the ship and their rate despite everything else that goes on aboard the ship.  It will help them when it is time for them to move on!

yes there has been many rumors about what will happen with the ship next year and I am sure we are not suppose to say on here but we all probably all have heard the rumors.    sounds like a great navy family.     what is a CS ?   Has your son been on board a while or is he relatively new to the ship?

my husband retired as a FCCM  after 23 years.   Sounds like your son is doing good   but what is a QM  dont think I have heard of that rate    or is it quarter master?     My son has only been on board  for about 4 and 1/2 months.  he is an E3   with no rate at this time.  He was looking to go diver but has to wait so he is not really sure what to strike for .  (the reason he has no rate is he was in buds)  He does love Hawaii  but this ship is a bit difficult with all the problems  and that is is a reservist ship doesn't help either.  but he is happy and trying to find his way around the navy. Its  much harder to advance and keep in with all the cutbacks,  I pray he just finds a spot and can stay!!!

Lauren.  what a great opportunity to be able to see the ship pull in to harbor.  My son sent me pictures from his cell phone the last time they pulled in.    I think I would cry if I was able to actually see the ship pull in.    I am so glad that you were able to see your sailor before they pulled out.  I was praying for your family when my son told me they were sailing this week.

Have a great weekend all.

Our sailor keeps copies of all of his records, certificates, etc in a binder, each paper in a clear page protector.  They should keep a copy of each evaluation, records of classes they take, anything and everything...ship admins are not good at getting these things recorded in their records.  Their space is limited for sure but the binder fits in easily.

They have to hold their own and definelty "kill'em with kindness"!
