yeah i was living in an apartment before the ship deployed so i have made my mind up on what we are doing.. i am turning the housing down .. i dont like not being able to see where i am going to live before i have to sign the lease. i loved the virginia beach area and love how everything is around you have choices of where u want to go and even living there before the ship pulled out i never heard good things abour norfolk , so i was iffy when they told me where the house was.. its a nice house inside but its just the area that i dont want to deal with .

Hey. I am one of the ombudsman for the ship, and I don't even have an official date yet. as soon as the date has been released, we will all find out.

ENwife, I don't know anything about living in the housing up there. I guess it is up to you. When you move into housing, they take all of your BAH. If you are living out in town, and can pay rent and utilities and still have money left over, I would stay out in town. Then again, if you can use the extra bedroom as a spare bedroom or office, and it is bigger than your apartment, I guess go into housing. I live in Virginia Beach, and our mortgage payment and utilities are all way under what our BAH is. Good luck with your decision.
