"Alii Prae Me" or "Others Before Myself"

I am new to the role of Navy Wife and know that there are others out there in the same boat. I was hoping we could band together and with the help of some of the experienced spouses swap tips and learn from others on the ways of being a supporting family unit for our significant other.

I want to be able to lay my husband's mind at rest and I know others out there want to show their significant other we are all not Westpac Widows, a term I heard a Chief use, who are just waiting to pen our first Dear John letter.

I would like for us to be able to lean on each other and ask questions and build friendships.

So my advice is to stop telling moms and family that no news is good news. As I aweight a phone call from my sons Chief.

Jack's Momma - going through the ombudsman was probably the best route - hopefully you will hear from him soon!

Hang in there!

So I was brave enough to ask the ombudsman on the ship to provide a Navy email, Friday it will be three weeks since we’ve heard from him. I made sure to tell him it’s not an emergency and we don’t want to cause concern, I pray I’ve done the right thing and he won’t be embarrassed.

  1. Thank you I sent a simple non major request as to not embarrass him. Not like him to tell us anything so I’m concerned but not worried.

Jack's Momma - it's possible he might be doing some training with another ship (since his is in drydock) and perhaps they are on an underway or something - that could explain why he hasn't read your emails/texts.  Do you have his official Navy email address?  He would only be able to use that if he is underway.

Here's is the link to the Facebook page for the Milius Ombudsman.  You could try reaching out to them for info.

And remember, no news is good news.

Hello I haven’t been on here in a while, need some guidance. I know our sons ship is drydocked. We haven’t heard from him in 2 weeks and I’m getting concerned he’s so good about letting us know what he’s up to. He has not read text messages or emails. What can I do without embarrassing him but just getting some information about what he’s doing?
