For those not getting the DVD of the PIR graduation I posted my video of the graduates singing Anchor's Aweigh on my page here.

Alicia it cracks me up that he thinks its warm!

I wrote a blog post for moms and dads about what they can expect when their kids goes off to navy bootcamp.  I linked to this site.  I posted it and deleted the post because I don't want to violate any terms here.  i guess if you're interested in reading it send me a message?

My son is there as well! He's loving the warmer weather :) He's on hold for a few weeks so I think he kind of has an extended liberty, just can't leave the base. My son is ther for IT, what about yours?

HOLY Crap!  I just noticed the weather thingy says 16 degrees in Waukegan.  I'm now so thankful for the "heat wave" chicago was having during our PIR.  LOL   bbbbrrrrrrrr~

I love that I get to talk to my son every day.  we text back and forth.   My son is at Corry Stationin Pensacola.  He had his first liberty yesterday and he said he slept all day.  I asked him why he didn't go do something fun on base he said he didn't want to spend the money but I think he's already lonely and bored.  Anyone else have a Sailor at Corry station that needs a buddy?  Can we get them together without thinking we are "mothering" them?

Just found out my son's school is on hold.  I was looking forward to him coming home in early April but that will change now. I do like the daily communication I am getting with him.

Have you all seen the weather in GL today?  It has been snowing all day today. I am thankful I am not there this week. Too cold for me!  :)

probably good idea...w have verizon he doesn't have smart phone..i do with unlimited data grandfather claused in :)
Comment by deanna on February 10, 2012 at 6:02pm

He is using his phone but says internet connection in that area is really poor. He doesn't think having a laptop would do him any good at that base.  He is truely enjoying his phone though. We got the iphone 4s for $199 at Sprint with unlimited data and texting and long distance after 7pm. He never calls anyone in the daytime anyways.  Our family plan shares 1500minutes for 4 of us.  I'm the only one that really needs it as calling another Sprint customet anytime is free. I use mine for my business phone and never go over on minutes. I think it is the only network with the unlimited data now.  We are thinking that when they start needing to study, that less stuff like internet for games, tv etc will be more time to study.
