Does anyone know what the current hold time is for ATO/ATI or AE?

Comment by Hilda on July 22, 2014 at 10:02pm

Hi everyone, my daughter is an Airman Apprentice and mentioned Avionics Technician. She just had her PIR July 18th and left to Pensacola, FL July 19th. What should I expect while she's in A school? How long will she be there? Will she be able to take leave once she finishes A school? Thank you, any/all info appreciated!!

navywife+3 - when I asked the same, following is what one of the most wonderful veteran navy mom sent me  Hope it helps

The Rating Information card for Avionics Technician (AV) can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/av.pdf . Join Avionics Technicians (AV) Moms (http://www.navyformoms.com/group/avmoms), Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!! (http://www.navyformoms.com/group/sailorsinpensicolaflforaschool), and Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola (http://www.navyformoms.com/group/parentsofaschoolsailorsinpensacola) and check out Airman Family and Friends (http://www.navyformoms.com/group/airman). AV Sailors attend common basic electronics training, after which they are selected for either the Aviation Electrician’s Mate (AE) rating (Aviation Electronic - AE (http://www.navyformoms.com/group/aviationelectronicae) and https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ae.pdf ) or the Aviation Electronics Technician (AT) rating (Aviation Electronics Technician (AT) (http://www.navyformoms.com/group/AT) and https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/at.pdf ). Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend (http://www.navyformoms.com/group/bootcampmoms/page/liberty-during-p...) to help you know how to plan your weekend.

Hi Navy Av and just learned last week AT Moms,  Can anyone provide some insight on how long before class starts?  When he left it was 27 Jan, now it looks like it may be two months...what happens now?  Is this normal?  Appreciate any advice on what to expect

My son is doing the same with a PIR date of 1/10/14. I am not sure how long school is but can let you know since he leaves a week before yours.

Hi Navy AV Moms!  My SR is due to PIR 01/17/14 and so far we understand he is going to Pensacola for A School.  Appreciate your help in confirming - is the first part of AV A School 9 weeks of electronics training?  Thanks!
