Time to write a letter to Showtime. I thought I would get a view of GL and see if I remembered it.

You've got it right. Great Lakes has been Navy since 1911. The Army had a base at Fort Sheridan, 8 miles south of Great Lakes, from the 1880s until the 1990s. The only Army presence left at that location is a Reserve Center.

Moms here too! No...don't have Showtime. That would definitely bug me if they said "Army Base".  It's been a Navy Base since it's inception, if I am not mistaken.  I could be mistaken.

Anyone else watch Shameless on Showtime? Last night one of the kids gets busted for AWOL and he's being held at the "Army Base" in Great Lakes. This really bugged me. Isn't there an actual Army Base they could have used? Although from the looks of it, I'm pretty sure it wasn't shot at Great Lakes.
