Post cards are fine, but they do tend to be read aloud.

Jess are you thinking about sending postcards to Boot Camp??  would caution against that-unless you used postcards and put them into envelops

nice MAMA-I too send letters to my Sailor and so true it is still a piece of home for them no matter where they are in the Navy journey

Hello Moms:  I been a Navy MOM for almost a year, including Boot Camp and A school.  My son is deployed in Japan and at this time I don't have internet in my home so I come to library, scope his facebook page and his ship page.  I leave messages to him and on occasion we are online at the same time.  He is 13 hours ahead of our time here in states where I live.  In the beginning I wrote letters like every week.  He told me to type them because it was hard to read my writing under a red light at RTC.  Now a month I begin to write letters again.   I didn't realize he missed my letters until he post a portion of it on his fb page.  For him the letter was a piece of home.  Even though he is very excited about his deployment and works hard and long days on his feet.  When he takes his breaks the letter relaxed him.  So I just want to encourage MOMS to don't stop writing just because there is social media.  A letter is a hard copy of HOME.  AKA M_O_M Master of Motivation My old pen name.

I must of missed something in the rules for letter writing. I have printed out some news topics and sent them to my recruit along with pictures. I have sent him 11 letters so far which include local, world, weird science news. I hope that is something that will not draw attention to my recruit. My pictures I sent had multiple pictures on one page with color ink. So new to all of this, I just don't want my son to be punished for news articles or colorful pictures or jokes. Stressed.

Coryn'sMom, The address to write to your recruit in FIT is Ship 4, 3600 Ohio Street, Great Lakes, IL 60088-7103. Put "FIT Division- Male" or "FIT Division-Female" in place of the Division Number or use Ship 4 Div 2347 (for those who failed the run by less than a minute), or Ship 4 Div 2444 (for those who failed the run by more than a minute), or Ship 4 Div 2381 (for those who failed any part of the swim test). (You may want to join the group, fit program.)

Does anyone have a mailing address to the FIT division in GL?
