OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Thanks for the comment. I DUO with my DNL every couple of weeks. It helps and I enjoy our coffee dates. The time difference adds another layer. This is my second grandaughter. They lived 12 hours away and have now moved 20 minutes away.

Hi all - Happy Thursday!

PKM - my only suggestion is lots of FaceTime!  Hopefully you'll be able to visit but I know that's not always an option.  So again, lots of FaceTime lol!  Is this your first grandbaby?

Hi. I've not checked in a while. I agree that Michigan is not as military friendly. My son is across the country and I miss him and his wife. They are expecting their first child in August. Any ideas and suggestions on how to stay connected will be welcome.

B says the same thing - it's harder dealing with the VA in Michigan.  When he was in Virginia it was easy-peasy!

SubMom, I know exactly what you mean about feeling out of sorts a lot of times.  You're right.  Michigan is not as pro-military as other states/areas.  As soon as our son made the commitment to go Navy, my husband, daughter, parents and I all started to feel like some community members were almost distancing themselves from us.  It's like they all wanted to ask why our son didn't just go the "traditional" college route.  I guess because he's smart, everyone in our hometown thinks higher ed right out of HS is the only way to go.  They just don't get it.  I can't wait to travel to Great Lakes for his PIR in early Sep & then Pensacola later on when he's in his A school.

B'sNukeMoM - just saw your post about the get together. It was really fun. I hope the Michigan mom's continue to have get togethers. I don't know if it is just me but I feel out of sorts a lot of times as Michigan is not a heavy military state (if that makes sense). I visit Chicago, Pensacola and Annapolis and they are military town. There is a "vibe" that you feel.
