OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

As we go along you will have the opportunity to get to know each other a bit here on the Main Wall of the PIR Group...then in about a week or so (depending on how fast the group grows) we will add Individual Division Discussions for you to get to know each other even better on a Divisional Basis.

We veterans stay mostly on the Main wall ...ready to answer your questions and lend support. We have 7-8 PIR Groups running at one time...that's 70+ Divisions! So, we advise not to make a Group for each division. Less group hopping for the members,... and creates a cohesiveness for you all as a PIR group :-).

Hello...I changed the Group Picture...for some reason I can't seem to "like" anything LOL!

My Sailor PIR’d on 05/2011. He is a Seabee Reservist. I have been an AF (Security Forces) Reservist wife for 27 + years…I know …not Navy…but I am familiar with military life! We have been through two Deployments…one right after 9/11 and most recently a year ago…our son enlisted while Hubby was in Iraq. This site was a Godsend and helped me get through not only our sons BC experience but my husbands and my separation for 6 months.

I am a “veteran” mom on the PIR groups mostly. I have been on them now for over a year and we have 7-8 PIR groups running at the same time.

I will check in here to see if I can answer any questions and lend support. There will be a few other veteran moms along to lend a hand and support you all through your PIR experience. Others drop in occasionally too…plus we are always looking for more to “join the ranks”. Things change in the military and we like to give out the most current info that we can so moms that have just gone through this help a lot.

I have a lot of PAGES with information to provide you along the way. I will post as the subjects come up! Please ask any and all questions…there are NO dumb ones Folks!

Welcome! Hang on for the ride!

Good Morning, diannep, told you I would be back, lol. Morning ellen, FTLW, LaLa, Betsy & Craig. I hope you all are having a great day. I hope we get as active of a group of moms as was in my son's TG. You did an awesome job of educating all of us. Thank you.
