Hey there to everyone.  Was nice to see the Alumni status.  Makes me feel so old and wise.  LOL.  So nice to read about everyones' Sailors!

My sailor is doing well in Florida and she broke us down and yes, we drove down one of our cars for her to call her own.  We made her put it in her name so she now has the adult responsbility of OWNING a car!  Was a GREAT visit and made me, once again, proud to be an american.  Her base is an older base and has sooo much history!  The Lodging is the old barracks from the 30's!  Too cool!

She is still undecided and so every 3 weeks gets to go to a different job, all within her squadron.  She HATED one job but loved the 1st and now the third.  She has made many friends and is fine tuning her lifestyle as to be a good example of a female sailor.

Now I got just ONE more to get outta the house.,,, :O)

Diana,

Thanks for the email to encourage me to come back here for updates! My son is doing well, he's in San Diego now after staying at Great Lakes for training.  I'm not sure what's going on there, apparently his training is delayed so he does some chores in the morning then they have afternoons free. He thinks he'll be there a year.  I'm glad, he's only an hour flight away now.  We're going next week to visit. His gf is there this weekend for his 21st birthday! We couldn't all go the same time because we're bringing his dog and if he had his choice I'm afraid he'd pick the dog over the gf!  Not fair to her since she's traveling across the country to see him. I'm looking forward to hear how the other sailors are doing.

@Mrs.AndreaD, Hi, Welcome!!! Yes I did meet her at PIR. God has a way of putting those that need to be together, together. I am sorry for your loss, I know how hard it is and how it changes your world. We had a very nice chat, though I am sorry that I didn't get her name. I hope that Hank is doing well. My son is now at Goose Creek awaiting to class up for Nuke school. We had a great weekend with Diego (aka Kyle) and can't wait for him to come home for Christmas break. He and Kelsey will be getting married on the 22nd and going back together. It will be a whirl wind leave for him, but we will enjoy every minute. It is great to have this connection! Keep in touch! I will let Diego know that we have made the connection, he will think it is cool!

@Sharon, Hi, I'm new to the site, and the group. Was looking at older posts because my husband was Ship 11 Div 369 and I just wanted to see what everyone had to say about PIR. Anyways, from what I read, I believe the mom you met at PIR was my mother-in-law. Dark hair, from Louisiana...just thought I'd make the connection.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!

It is also Kevin's Birthday today, it falls on Thanksgiving every so many years. lol We really don't do anything for our birthdays, we usually take all of us out for a birthday dinner since mine falls on the 16th. We had a great dinner together while in town for PIR weekend. Today, Diego will be with some buddies and they will hit a B-dubs (Buffalo Wild Wings) to watch some football (we are Detroit Lions) and eat some wings for the afternoon. Not the same that is for sure, but this is what we have to get used to now. Our lives are forever changed with our "D" starting out. Just makes it hard though too! We really miss not having him home with us and soon Kelsey won't be here with us either and that will really be hard.................*sigh*

Happy Thanksgiving! Missing my son as well but he sounded excited about the dinner provided off base in Groton by sub veterans.
