OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Loves his new found freedom and is getting along well with his roommates. It's so nice to beable to pick up the phone and talk to him. Hope all is well. God bless.

Glad to hear the good news for your Son and you and I'm amazed at all the different training and jobs the Navy has to offer. There is something for everyone exept for worried Moms well I take that back we have Navy for moms.

Comment by Libby(CJs Mom) on May 27, 2010 at 9:46am: mvpmom - Dam Neck is an annex of Oceana NAS and is just south of Virginia Beach, VA. There are several tenant commands there, but our son is there for Intelligence Specialist A School at the Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center.

There are 2 from Div 183, 1 from Div 184 and I'm not sure what division the other one was in.

The good news is they picked up a few more booters and a half dozen or so fleet returnees, so they can start class on Tuesday next week. Now the fun really starts!

Comment by Libby(CJs Mom) on May 24, 2010 at 10:49am: There is life after boot camp! Our son is out at Dam Neck waiting to class up. That means after the boom-boom-boom of recruit training they are given a task in the morning like cleaning or pulling weeds and then usually cut loose after lunch to fend for themselves. Fortunately, so far they are keeping busy by going to the gym and running.

4 sailors from the 5/7 training group went there. It looks like a couple of more weeks on hold waiting for enough to start a class. In the meantime, he is learning things like doing his own laundry. He noted that when he went to clean the room, the cleaners weren't just magically in the closet like they had always been - he had to hike over to the NEX and buy some!

Direct quote - "This being an adult kinda sucks."

Absolutely made our day!

Hope all is well with everyone and their sailors as they learn their role in the Navy.

He got his cell phone and wow is it cool to know I can call anytime. Now I'm just trying to stop me from over doing it but I swear it was not long ago I was watching his baseball games at the park!

Comment by Cassandra Rose on May 17, 2010 at 10:39pm: Hey guys! My sailor is still in Great Lakes for A School as well. He's in indoc right now, waiting to class up to start Corpsman classes. Any other corpsman people out there? James is having an awesome time with his new found freedom- as it sounds like they all are. I stayed an extra week/weekend after PIR weekend and it was awesome. Got to hang out with him on base all week 4-9:45 and off base Fri/ Sat/ Sun all day. SO glad I made the decision to stay even though I had no clue how much I'd be able to see him! Glad to see everyone is still checking in :]

Soem adjustments but sounds happy and content. wants his ipod and cloths. Doesn't know when he'll start A school. Glad everyone is doing good.
