For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I hear ya...my wasn't home for 3 Christmas's....) I was always on deployment.
momof2sailors...that's AWESOME you got to pin your son!!
So sad about the shipmate....so hard on everyone.
I remember when mine got on the carrier they loss a pilot as 2 jets crashed into each other...my son talked with the pilot right before they went up and was heading to the galley when the "birds in the water" call came over the ships PA. He couldn't believe it....there's counselors for them.
There's an organization called CSADD: http://www.navy.mil/submit/display.asp?story_id=78589...
part of what this group goes is train them to look for signs of suicide or destructive behavior.

I just got back yesterday from seeing my son and pinning him. Everything was good until last night. I found out that after my son dropped me off at the airport yesterday and he got home only to find out that one of his shipmates (a friend of his) they think committed suicide. Will know more after the investigation. It was another shipmate that found him. I feel at a loss for words to say to him. I just want to put my arms around him and shield him from the pain. He won't talk about it. A friend of his mom reached out to me to get his phone number so that her son could call him.They were stationed together in Japan. The squadron are all off work till Thursday so hopefully they can try to work thru it. And seek counseling if needed.

Thanks BeachBunny it helps I know he's on nights now, but all we keep asking is when we text just text back something anything... He is my oldest & first to leave the nest. It's hard for me because we were so close before he went in. We would love for him just to check in, his dad got hurt over the weekend and we haven't heard back from him since it happened. We tell him just a short text would be nice. I guess I will wait for him.. It's so hard beening on the East coast. Thanks have a nice day

Hi ReneeHum....glad he hear he came home for a visit......hummmm that's a hard one, maybe he's asking for some space....At least he said something instead of ignoring the text...Is he your first kiddo to leave home?
I hear from mine maybe once a week and we skype when he's on deployment in a port, really only a few times. I do stalk him on FB...lol..not really but can get an idea of what's he's doing if he post anything. I'll send him an IM but I don't post on his main broad. Most of the time he's working night check and sleeping during the day time. Then there's the duty rotation schedule so mainly he's working a lot!
I did pop down there a few weeks ago to help him. He asked me too. I bought back home some stuff he won't need for awhile since he'll be on detachment or deployment so much as he was downsizing his living space.
There's some months I hear more from him then ours. I let him take the lead. But if I don't hear from him. I'll just text "hello" then after a few days. I'll text "knock, knock". He'll call me laughing...I'll answer "hello stranger" with a chuckle...I like to keep the phone calls "lite" in subject and ask open ended questions like "what's going? or what's new?"....hummm once he said," New, I got another tattoo"....:)
Sorry I don't have an answer but to share my experience...
