Not sure if anyone will find this helpful; I just opened an account for my son at Navy Federal over the phone by calling 1-888-842-6328. He was able to do this prior to leaving for bootcamp. This was quick and easy. They have the 1199a Direct Deposit Sign-up Form online that he will be able to take with him when he leaves.

    We've used NFCU for decades, they're great for online banking and have a decent phone app too.

    Credit unions are great, my kids and I would rather bank with a credit union and we have been for years with Clearview FCU. My son has my account # info so he can send funds directly to my account.
