SGT CAMO Ice Cream

Whitey’s New “Sgt Camo” Ice Cream Going to Iraq for Troops Moline, IL. Soldiers in Iraq will soon be treated to “Sgt. Camo” Ice Cream, the newest creamy creation from Whitey’s Ice Cream in Moline, IL. Whitey’s has teamed up with the Military Warriors Support Foundation to send the camouflaged colored ice-cream to cool off troops in the deserts of Iraq. The idea for the sending the ice cream treat to soldiers came after Whitey’s owners, Jeff & Jon Tunberg decided to donate half of the proceeds from sales of “Sgt Camo” to the Military Warriors’ concert/fundraiser on Sept 5th The fundraiser will be held in LeClaire Park in Davenport and will include a concert by Christian recording artists Michael W. Smith and John Waller as well as appearances by Pastor Matthew Hagee. Wounded warriors, including Jeremiah Workman (navy cross & purple heart recipient) will be recognized at the event and active military will be admitted free. “After we decided to help sponsor “A Night to Honor Our Heroes” with ice-cream sale proceeds, we thought, ‘why not bless our troops in Iraq with Sgt. Camo Ice Cream.’ Lt Gen Leroy Sisco, founder of Military Warriors, made the necessary contacts and we’re working out the details to ship it to the troops. We are honored to do this and hope it reminds them of home, especially those from the Quad Cities area who love Whitey’s Ice Cream.” Kathryn Bohn, concert organizer & promoter first conceived the idea to produce “A Night to Honor Our Heroes” in 2004 after seeing President Bush in LeClaire Park and writing a letter requesting his help to make it happen. Over the years, Bohn has produced other Christian concerts for pro-life organizations and The Salvation Army, but never gave up her heart’s desire to produce an event to honor God, Country and the military warriors. In 2008, Bohn saw General Sisco on the John Hagee show and contacted him about producing the fundraiser for Military Warriors. The event is made possible by financial sponsors and ticket sales. Tickets are $15.00 and are on sale at Family Christian Stores in Davenport, Ia and Moline, IL. National Guard and Reserves have a reduced ticket price and children 12-years and younger are admitted “free.” Proceeds will go to help the Military Warriors foundation provide educational scholarships, recreational retreats & programs, family mentoring programs, financial planning and counseling.
