Moving Off Base
My sailor will be moving off base. The place is about 15 minutes from base.
Does anyone have any tips on where to buy used furniture? And how to physically move items from base to the new place (like moving companies, etc.)?
I want to help him out but I have no clue where to start! He is stationed in Yokosuka, Japan.

I was in Yokosuka for a long time. There are no used furniture stores in Japan, as the second hand shops focus on antiques. We bought furnitire from the NEX or inexpensive Japanese stores, found a few things on Big Trash Day off base. Another thing to do is find the base classifieds, people sell their furniture when PCSing all the time.
There's no local moving companies for moving on base to off base. Is he in the barracks? He shouldn't have much. Mostly he finds a friend with a truck or van and they do the move themselves. I think he can rent a truck on base.
