As for your question, I am waiting to see if I can get a reply from my sailor gal (not sure of her work schedule this week.) I am not sure if there is a requirement, unless they are wearing skirts. As for before BC, I wouldn't think there would be an issue. They only have a very short, like 3-min. showers as I recall my son mentioning (not even exactly sure on that either), so if they do shave, I think that was left for Sundays when they might get longer showers.
DIL just replied, "I didn't shave during boot camp cause I didn't have time. It's just a personal preference." I also recall her mentioning that it wasn't easy to do on the ship either.
