Wearing contacts in boot camp

I just read on another topic that the recruites are not allowed to wear contacts while in boot camp.  Is this correct?  I understand that he will be issued glasses there but it takes a few weeks to receive.  Is this correct?   If so, is he supposed to bring glasses to wear for those few weeks.  He only wears contacts and doesn't have glasses and I don't know if I should try to get him glasses before he leaves.  Can anyone set me straight on this?

That is correct, no contacts. He can wear them at PIR I understand. They can put a rush on the BC glasses if needed. How "blind" is he? Because there's plenty to do in BC which doesn't require good vision. Does the recruiter know the current policy?

I went to bootcamp and didn't have any glasses to take. So when I got there I just let my RDC know that I was wearing contacts. We were able to wear them until we were issued our BCGs. Usually all the medical things get taken care of during the first week of bootcamp which is processing/receiving week. I wouldn't worry about getting him glasses before bootcamp. When I arrived at "A" School they gave me a normal pair of glasses.

My son did not have glasses, just contacts. He got his glasses I think the day after he arrived. And let me tell you does not like these!
