When does an airman find out what his job is going to be?

My boyfriend left for bootcamp on Nov 6th. He is an airman, and I was wondering when he would find out what his job is going to be and where he is getting stationed. He was pretty sure that he was going to Pensacola for A school, but had no idea what job he was going to have. I am only familiar with how the Army works and wanted to know if anyone that has been through it could give me some more information. Hoping for the best :) Thanks!

Is he an undesignated airman? His A school will be in Pensacola. No way to tell where he will get stationed, depends on what the Navy needs. It may be helpful to you to look up NAS (Naval air stations) to get an idea of where they are in the US, but its where there is a need at the time. If he is undesignated he could be doing numerous jobs, inventory, helping to maintain the aircraft, just about anything they need him for, but most sailors that are new to the fleet do that too.

If he is in the A-PACT (Aviation Professional Apprenticeship Career Tracks) program, then he does not have "A" School for a while, but he does have training in Pensacola.  Those in the A-PACT program do usually find out in BC where they will go for thier first duty station--and yes, the assignment of the duty station is based on the needs of the Navy.
