Can spouses do the buddy system in the navy for boot camp? I know the we would go to different A schools but could we go through boot camp together in an integrated division?
The Navy Buddy Enlistment Program is for up to four males or females. The following is from http://www.navy.com/navy/faq/. The bolding within the reply is mine.
CAN MY FRIEND AND I JOIN TOGETHER?
Sure! We call it the Buddy Program. The Buddy Program provides for the enlistment of small groups of not more than four people of the same gender who wish to remain together for as long as possible during their first enlistment. Just ask your recruiter for details.
From what I know of being half of a dual military couple ... no. You can go to BC approximately at the same time, but you would not be assigned to the same division. Pretty much the same deal as being in the fleet, you cannot be at the same command. Same base, yes, same command, never.
In boot camp, if you are both in the same Training Group, you would not be allowed to communicate with each other, not even via snail mail.
Also, you will not be eligible for spouse co-location during your first enlistment. Not that spouse co-location is any guarantee, I assure you, it is not.
