Your Sailor may have watch or other duties at some point over the weekend, but if not, he will have Liberty. At first, he will not be able to leave the base for Liberty, but then he will Phase up and be able to. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend adn they will be able to give you more specific information on how the Phases work.
My SR has a PIR of 2/28/14 so now I am all about learning the new phase...A school. He is ship 02 div 915 and heading to San Antonio. My questions are: When he leaves Chicago, can he take his phone? If not, when can he have it? Also, how long before the weekend liberty comes into play? We are so wanting to plan a trip to San Antonio, but want him to have liberty when we go. Our weekends are limited because of other our other kids sports calendar...so being able to plan a couple months in advance would be awesome, but maybe that is another thing this parent is going to have to adjust to. Ick!
