Ha ha - 'running'?! I'm a walker. I like playing along with 'Fit for Duty' on the Pentagon Channel though, got my weights & swiss ball by the TV, it's fun. NC does have great beaches, we went to the Outer Banks 2 yrs ago and to Ocracoke Island via ferry, very cool. The beaches were fine white sand covered with shells, and few people. I'll post a few photos on my page, it was gorgeous there!

Hi, saw your comments and went searching around. The Camp Lejeune site is http://www.lejeune.usmc.mil .
Look up units at http://www.marines.mil/units/Pages/category.aspx , find yours and click on it, such as http://tinyurl.com/2ndMarineDivision (I made it smaller at tinyurl.com), and find links for news, family info etc.
Read the Camp Lejeune newspaper online (has classified ads, too): http://www.camplejeuneglobe.com .
You can also receive email alerts when there's news about a topic such as a division on Google Alerts http://www.google.com/alerts (remember to put quotation marks around multiple keywords, i.e. "Second Marine Division".) There's a Google Alerts FAQ link too.
OK, that was fun, back to work! ;)

Marcy is the BEST with the info...She and I are good friends and are in a few groups together ... Our corpsman mom and dads group is the best ...
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

We have fun, that's for sure!
Marsha, what's the deal with the homecoming t-shirts?
  • mikes mom

A friend of mine ( our sons are in afg together) sent me a link where I can buy Melissa and I my cubs homecoming T shirts.... It's for the 2/2...Interesting we can't go to the homecoming so it's nice to have that and wear the day he comes home...
  • nbobbiesock

My son is with the 3/6 Lima, a corpsman, who is now back on con leave at Camp Lejeune. Any other Corpsman moms with the 3/6? I would really like to meet some.
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Not I, mine's there for FMTB.
  • nbobbiesock

thank you, I wish him well in his training, it is hard work, but our guys are tough! The marines are great guys, too.
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

    What is "con leave"?
  • nbobbiesock

convalescent leave, when they are injured
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

I guessed that as soon as I hit enter. How is he doing?
  • nbobbiesock

he is recovering well, thank you. It was very hard for me, this first deployment. A non combat related injury in which he fractured two bones and an his ankle. He had surgery in Germany and got to come home for a while, so now some therapy at CLJ, The hard part for him is all his buddies are in Afghanistan, so he will have to make some new ones.
Your son is FMTB as well?
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Oh my, I'll bet it was hard for you; and fractured bones, no fun for him, poor guy!
Mine is headed to a ship following FMTB.
  • nbobbiesock

oh, that is cool for you son to be on a ship. Mine has always been with the 3/6 so a ship is new to me. I bet that is exciting.
I'm not sure how deployments work on ships, but I bet there are the same worries and concerns. I'm glad we have other parents to help us through this.
  • mikes mom

Marcy - I am so glad he will be deployed on a ship ....Nice...nbobbiesocks - My son is with the 2/2 ....
  • nbobbiesock

    Marcy, is he deployed now?
  • mikes mom

nbobbiesock - Marcy's son is not deployed yet he is still in training...I think Marcy said he will be deployed on a ship..Yes she did say ship... My son is finishing up with his first deployment in Afg !!! I can't wait for him to get back to CL...
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Hi Marsha & thanks Betty! I just started a new discussion up top and called it "FMTB Camp Lejeune links and information" - I moved that earlier stuff into it, and added local TV stations, too. I like signing up for weather alerts wherever his is. I started that when he was in boot camp and A school in Great Lakes, and going through everything there from tornado warnings to ice storms to blizzards!
  • mikes mom

Susan, Yes my son gave me his address and I sent just a lot of goodies to him..His father has a huge family so one day he got about 34 boxes !!! He could make calls ...Get a FB most of our kids have Facebook and I think moms should too...Sometimes that is how I talk to my son is if he is on his computer and I can IM him via FB....Remember always ask questions cuz someone will have the answer...
  • mikes mom

Susan, Whats truly funny is that I say that all the time too...lol The moms on this site are the best !!!!
  • mikes mom

You should see us on our groups..lol
  • Dan's Dad (John)

Jeez, thought I'd search for a Camp Lejeune group and I see all the same Corpsman Moms characters!
  • Dan's Dad (John)

Thanks Uli. Dan visited his Marine cousin there last summer. Hopefully he'll be there awhile so we can visit him, it's not a bad drive from here.
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

    Hey, Cheater, welcome to CLM!
  • Dan's Dad (John)

haha, I've been called worse. :)
  • Dan's Dad (John)

I'm going to Dan's graduation May7. He says the he has to pay the difference between GL to Cl and GL and home. Where do they fly into from GL? Jacksonville?
